"Because I want to help you," He said as a smile played on his lips. I crossed my arms over my chest and raised my brow at him, causing a little bit of pain to go to my aching head.
"Look I'm not going to hurt you," He said, putting his hands up. When he saw I still had no response he reach for the cylinder on his left hip; my body instantly tensed as I prepared myself to fight. Unexpectedly instead of turning it on he set it down on the floor and rolled it away with his foot.
"See there nothing to be afraid of, I'm just trying to help you," He said.
"First off I never said I was afraid and second you say you're trying to help me? you want me to believe that the person that locked me up, told me that I was going to be executed, and brought me to a strange room then fought me is trying to help me." I was practically fuming, who did this guy think he was, did he think I was stupid.
"Actually you fought me, I never hit back remember and I know it's hard to believe but it true. I promise you nothing is going to happen to you. I got in touch with some people and I was able to void the execution. As long as you don't cause any trouble you'll be safe."
He was right, I did fight him and he didn't hit back so technically I was just a jerk who attacked someone who wasn't going to fight back. I was a little ashamed but I didn't allow myself to be guilty because guilt made people do stupid things. Instead I decided to pretend that it never happened. The rest of of his words finally filtered into my brain and hit me like a lightning bolt, was the spoken of execution really canceled or was I still being tricked. I wanted more than anything to believe him, that I could really be safe and possibly happy.
"Is what you're telling me really true?," I asked
"Yes, one-hundred percent" He said.
"How do I know you're not just trying to trick me?"
"I promise you my intention are absolutely good, but to be honest I don't need you to trust me, I just need you to cooperate," He said. There was something about the way he said it that made me want to believe every word that came out of his mouth. In the back of my head I knew it was risky, I knew that it could be regretful, but the thought of a possible secure future pulled at my heart.
"Okay, I believe you," I said letting my hand fall back to my sides.
"That's great, Oh-my name's Maice just in case you forgot, so do you mind telling me your name?" He said. Normally I would have just blurted out my name, but I still had to keep my guard up. Just in case things went wrong I had to ensure that I didn't leave any information that they could use to find me, I had to play it safe. When I was younger I used to come up with different name for myself for fun, now all those hours of scribbling on paper came in handy.
"My name's Raimi," I lied, choosing the first name that came to my mind. He smiled and held out his hand once again. I was hesitant at first due the lack of contact that I had with water but I rubbed my dirty hands on my pants and took his hand. We release and I realized that there was still one thing that I was confused about.
"Why are you doing this?" I asked, honestly addled.
"I have my reasons," he said bluntly. Then he turn around and literally flopped down on the bed. He closes his eyes and lets out a big sigh. He doesn't move for a while, which makes it look like he is sleeping.
