habit of gulfing food down. For a slit second I considered eating his half and saying I forgot but I knew that was all too unfair so instead I shoveled a piece of toast into my mouth and washed it down with the milk. I covered the food with the still intact plastic wrap then got up and placed it on the top of the dresser. My foot bumped against the duffel bag on the floor. I had completely forgotten about it up until now, I sat down on the floor then took it into my lap and unzipped it. What I found inside almost made my squeal in delight. It was shoes, my shoes actually. Don't get me wrong I'm not one of those girls who only think about shoes but when you've been stripped of your right to shoes for as long as I have then a single pair of shoes is the best thing in the world. I pulled them out and noticed how clean they were. I put them on the floor and continued. The next thing I found was the all black uniform that I had arrived in. Nostalgia washed over me and I considered trying it on again right then and there but I quickly dismissed the thought because it wasn't worth risked Maice walking out and seeing me in it or even worst changing. I move it aside and found the bra and underwear that I had arrived in neatly folded on top of each other. I could feel my face flush at the fact that a stranger had seen and possibly examined my undergarments. There was no way I could wear them again so I shoved them to the bottom and kept searching.
There was nothing personal after that just a random mix of shirts and pants ranging from jeans to a frilly floral skirt. In the assortment was a simple light green dress with lace around the waist. It wasn't that it was ugly or anything because it was pretty to look at but there was no way that you'd catch me wearing it. With the dress aside I took a look at the very bottom of the duffel bag. There were seven packets of soap, three packets of shampoo, two rolled up towels, a tube of tooth paste, a tooth brush, a comb, and my favorite, a pack of several undergarments. Somehow I knew Maice was going to come out soon so I packed everything up and closed the duffel bag. A few seconds later Maice walked out of the bathroom wearing pale green cargo pants and a grey shirt.
"That really hit the spot," He stretched. "Hope you didn't eat all of the omelet," He added giving me a side smile.
"Well you're in luck, the other half is on top of this thing," I said tapping the dresser.
"Thanks," He said as he moved in for his breakfast. He ripped of the plastic and dug in and I got up with the duffel bag ready to take a shower.
"You know this proves that you don't hate me." He stated so matter-of-factly even though he had food in his mouth, you'd think it would be totally gross but the way he did it, there wasn't a hint of disgustingness. It's hard to explain, it's like if you picked a booger but you did it with a tissue while turn in the opposite direction. I mean the idea of it is not very appealing but in that case it didn't seem so bad.
"What do you mean?" I asked honestly confused.
"You could have eaten the whole omelet and left me to starve and honestly I wouldn't mind because when I walked in you looked like you were about to die, but instead you left me more than half." He tilted the plate toward me so that I could see the where I had split the two sides and the chunk missing on the opposite end. "Now would someone who hated me leave me such a big portion?" He grinned.
