Flashback:
First day of freshman year
Mackenzie's POVArabella and I parted ways when we reached the second staircase. If it wasn't the bunching of kids in the halls it was the quietness that scared me.
I quickly scanned my schedule to find my locker number. To my advantage my locker was only a few feet away from Arabella's.
My fingers flicked with the padlock until I successfully opened the red rectangular locker. I unpacked my bag when I heard ruckus erupting behind me.
I turned around and saw two boys who looked the same age as me who looked like they were going down into a full down fist fight. I didn't pay much mind since I was used to seeing this all the time in my old school back in Florida. I only paid attention when I heard Arabella's loud voice stop the chanting of "FIGHT".
When I finally turned around Arabella was getting in the middle of the two boys, shoving her arms into every which way possible. Of course she had to get in the middle. It was always Arabella to make the dumb decisions.
I managed to get through the crowd surrounding the attention. My first instinct was to get Arabella out of there. As I yanked her out the crowd the crowd started to fade away.
"Are you guys dumb? Don't you know that fighting on school grounds could get you suspended?" Arabella calmed herself down. The boys looked at her confused but when they noticed they were still standing next to each other they stormed off and went in opposite directions.
"Aren't you the dumb one to get in the middle of another fight? I thought you learned your lesson" I sharpened my look.
"Ohh come on, I wasn't going to let those boys kill each other. Besides what is the first day of school without a little drama"
"Why even bother, you don't know them"
"Did you not just see that kids face. He looks like he just came out of a magazine"
"Of course your first priority is boys. I should have guessed that's why you did it"
Arabella rolled her eyes and walked off.
I didn't notice everyone staring at me standing in the middle of the hall -wearing my converse. I shyly tucked a piece of hair behind my ear and finished unpacking my bag.
Being that it was my first day in this school it was hard but now being that I was the cousin of the crazy girl who broke up the fight was even harder.
Luckily evenly though I had classes with Arabella, we were sitting on opposite sides of the room.
Words spreads fast around here though. I didn't go one period without hearing someone mention the fight.
My ears dropped on one of the conversations two kids in my fifth period Algebra class.
"Did you see the fight between Wilk and Gilinsky?" A blued eyed, blonde boy asked.
"They fought again?" the brown haired boy asked while revealing his dimples.
I guess it seemed as if these two rebellious boys had some history in the way these two were describing it. I kept looking back and forth at the blonde boy. It seemed as if he had a personal connection with one of the boys that fought.
By the end of the day the whole situation with the fight was foreign to me.
Arabella thought that it was a good idea to go up and talk to one of the boys from earlier. I didn't stop her because well when Arabella doesn't get what she wants, she gets fussy.
Every once in a while I would look to see if she was still there talking to him and every single time I looked they were both giggling. When I saw the other boy heading straight towards them I knew I had to get Arabella away before things got chaotic again.
As I walked up to Arabella and the boy, I noticed that it was a rather peaceful conversation.
"You know your kind of chill" the light brown haired boy that Arabella was originally speaking to, said to her.
"Hey your the girl from this morning!" the taller dark haired boy intervened in their conversation. I stood there just watching in shock and waiting for another fight to go down.
"Yup, your welcome you didn't get suspended" Arabella sarcastically said back.
"How about you do me a favor and mind your own business" he said and walked off angrily.
"Rude" I mumbled under my breathe.
"Sorry he's kind of a douche" he gave us a sympathetic smile.
"By the way I'm Mackenzie" I stuck out my hand for him to shake.
"How impolite of me, the name is Sammy Wilkinson" he smirked and shook my hand.
"Arabella and I are cousins" I said motioning between me and her.
"Since we are getting to know each other, you guys want to go to a party this Saturday?"
"Sure" Arabella cut in before I could even say anything. She knew that parties were not my thing. I didn't mind them but I just wasn't interested.
"I guess I will see you around" he said and closed his locker.
