Saturday
Jacks POV

I asked Sammy to meet me for lunch just to talk like we usually did but this time it was just us two.

I strolled into The Cafe and sat myself down on one of the round tables towards the back of the room. Sammy walked in a minute after I did.

"What's up Bro?" Sammy bro hugged me.

"Not much man"

"So what's this about?" he sat down and crossed his arms.

"wanted to chill for a little"

"I need it after this week" he chuckled.

"Arabella and Mackenzie seriously hit it off this week didn't they?" I responded with a chuckle.

"I have no idea what the hell ran through their head"

"Neither do I, I think we should do something about it"

"I like the way you think G" he sat up interested.

"Tell them to meet us here?" I suggested.

"On it" Sammy grabbed his phone and texted Mackenzie. I did the same and texted Arabella to get to the cafe in ten minutes. Sammy and I had crossed our fingers that this would turn out better than we expected.

In a matter of five minutes Mackenzie popped in.

"What are you two doing here?" she stood in front of our table.

"We wanted to have lunch" Sammy tried to cover my nervousness.

"You wanted to have lunch? The three of us?" Mackenzie looked like she wasn't believing us. Just as I was about to open my mouth to say something the little bell above the entrance rang and when I looked Arabella stood at the door.

She caught a glance at the three of us at the table but Mackenzie hadn't noticed she was they but when she had finally turned around and caught eye of her Mackenzie gave the death stare to Sammy. I didn't stick around because Arabella walked out and so I ran out after her.

"Ara, wait!" I called out as she got closer to her car.

"Look I know you and Sammy want to make things right but just stay out of it please" she said and got in her car. I love how I try to do something good and only bad comes out.

A second later Mackenzie came out and walked towards her car.

"The two big bad wolfs in action? Nice job" she said to me and Sammy as we stood side by side with nothing to say. She also got in her car and drove off.

"Fuck my life" Sammy said under his breathe.

"This is going to be a long while" I said and walked off to my car.

I obviously figured Arabella was going to go home. So it was most sensible to go there.

Just as I was pulling into their driveway, Mrs. Gomez was making her way to her car.

"Hi Jack" she waved as I approached.

"Hi Mrs. Gomez, is Arabella home?"

"Yes she's inside"

"Do you mind if I go in for a minute. I just need to talk to her"

"Umm... sure"

I walked to the front door and walked in. As I was walking up the stairs Arabella was walking into her room.

"Ara?" I called out for her but she ignored me.

"Arabella?" I walked into her room and found her folding some clothes.

"What Jack?" she continued folding with her back towards me.

"Don't be upset"

"Ohh no I'm not upset that you set me up to apologize to Mackenzie" she sarcastically said.

"I was just trying to help"

"I know and I thank you but please next time don't bother. This is something I'd rather do on my own"

I walked up to her and freed her hands from the clothes.

"Look at me and tell me your not upset at me anymore then"

Her eyes fell into mine and stared.

"I'm not upset at you Jack"

"Good"

Sammy's POV

So I figured since Arabella was home, Mackenzie wasn't going to be there. The thing was I really had no idea where she could be so I decided to text her.

Me: where are you? I just want to talk
Mackenzie: talk about?
Me: baby, please just tell me where you are
Mackenzie: why so you can apologize for setting me up?
Me: no, I want to apologize for even thinking it was a good idea. I really am sorry
Mackenzie: I will see you later
Me: I'm really sorry

Mackenzie never texted me after and I didn't have a way to communicate with her. If it was the one thing in the world that I hated the most was seeing Mackenzie upset.

I drove for countless minutes until I tried Elmwood Park since it was the last place we met other than the cafe. As I guessed, Mackenzie was sitting on the picnic table staring out at the trees.

"I really need to find a better hiding spot" she continued staring out.

"All I want to do is make sure your happy Mackenzie and when Jack suggested the idea, I thought it would work"

She quickly looked at me as I sat down next to her.

"I really appreciate it Sammy but I'd rather work this one out"

"I know and I'm sorry. Next time I will speak to you about it before I make a move"
