Caspar woke up to an empty bed the next day. He cracked his eyes open slowly, hands travelling down the cold path Joe's body had left. He could remember sometime after he had fell asleep, Joe had to go back to his room because the doctor was going to check up on him in a half an hour and Macy had to.

"D'n't take 'im," Caspar had said, hand falling from Joe's waist as she softly put him into the chair without waking him up. "I wanna 'old 'im."

"Sorry Romeo," Macy said sarcastically. "Joseph's gotta go back up on his balcony. Parting is such sweet sorrow."

Caspar just rolled back over and fell back asleep, head flooding with dreams of getting out of the hospital.

Now that he was awake, all the painkillers that Caspar was packed with wore off, leaving him to wallow in the pain his leg had. He groaned and squeezed his eyes shut, sitting up and stretching, yawning widely and blinking to look at what time it was.

3:30 pm.

Holy shit, Caspar thought, blinking his eyes rapidly. I slept the day away. It's already visiting hours.

The South African pressed on his nurse button, wanting some pain killers to ease his pain. He wanted to desperately peak underneath his cast (he got it in blue because why not) to see how messed up the gun wound was, but the nurse yelled at him when he tried once.

He laid back down, breathing in deeply at the dull ache that travelled up his leg. I can't wait to be questioned when I get out of here. They better throw Travis's ass in jail, or I'm going to be in there for murder.

"Morning, Caspar," His nurse, Joshua, said when he walked in, a pill bottle in his hand and a smile on his face. "Or should I say afternoon?"

"I'm a deep sleeper," Caspar said, rubbing at his eyes.

Joshua laughed, walking over to the sink and pouring some water into a cup. "My little brother is the same way."

Caspar just nodded and took the pills that Josh handed to him.

"Your parents are here, by the way," Josh said, taking his clipboard from Caspar's bedside and writing on it quickly before setting it back down. Josh once told him it was the times he took all his pills; always when he woke up, and always when he ate dinner. "They should be coming into your room in a couple of moments."

Caspar nodded and Josh walked out, calling out to another nurse the moment he exited. He relaxed against his pillows and shut his eyes, thinking of last night. The thought of Joe and Caspar's heads tilted in towards each other, the smaller males lips slightly opened and eyes shut in peace caused Caspar's head to feel light and for his heart to skip a beat.

I don't want to see either of you get hurt, Zoe had told him the other day when she visited. It's so rash, the way you're acting for Joe. He isn't some damsel in disstress, Caspar. I really wish you didn't start that fight.

It was worth it, Caspar kept repeating. Anything is worth it for Joe.

You're going to get hurt. Zoe fought back. You're both young and in High School, none of us know what love is and it's scary. I know I say I love Alfie, but we have no clue what's going to happen when we go off to University. All I know is that we're going to grow up and when you grow up, you let go of your childhood and things and people you love. You're going to hurt so bad, Caspar. And so is Joe.
