7. Just Friends

Regardless of his father, Joe continued to stay friends with Caspar. He didn't really see much of him in real life, but they did start to face time each other every once in a while, so Joe counted that as a plus. They still texted on a daily (even in Euro, Joe is a terrible person, he knows.) and as time gradually went on, Joe found himself spending more and more time up at three o'clock in the morning crying over boys and listening to sad Ed Sheeran stuff. You know, as teenagers normally do.

Zoe didn't mentioned Caspar anymore, mostly because Joe told her not to.

"Don't mention Caspar in front of dad anymore," he said to her the night his father told him he didn't like his new South African friend.

"Why not?" Zoe asked, tilting his head to the side.

"Dad doesn't want me to be friends with him or some stupid shit like that," Joe said, rolling his eyes.

"Well that's stupid."

"I know."

"Are you going to listen to him?"

Joe gave a laugh and patted Zoe on her shoulder. "Oh, you think I actually care what he thinks? How cute!"

Zoe narrowed her eyes. "If you don't care what he thinks, then why do you want me to not talk about him?"

Joe blinked in confusion. "I don't know. Just don't mention him so dad doesn't get mad."

"Sounds like you care,"

"Shut up," Joe snapped, crossing his arms. "I have zero feelings."

There was also this thing with Will deciding to still act as if they were dating.

Will: y'all are so cute. Like you are really cute

Joe: I screenshoted a photo of John Cena and photo shopped the words 'Just Do It' into the picture and sent it to you so why are you doing me like this?

Will: its like it Romeo and Juliet, except Homeo and Bad Kid.

Joe: am I Homeo

Will: well considering you cried over accidently walking one step out of the store with keychain hand sanitizer, I would definitely suggest you aren't Bad Kid.

Joe: :/

Will: no but seriously when are you two going on a date ?

It was also a major tear in his heart that he actually broke his promise with himself and decided to invite him to tag along with him on Jim and Tanya's date. Caspar was probably going to count it as a date, and so were Jim and Tan, and although Joe just brushed them off as 'just friends' he knew that there was something more between them and couldn't really stop it.
