The screaming of a siren was present as the ambulance sped along the road. The paramedic that was present, was gently examining Gracie's unconscious form. Her face was half covered by an oxygen mask but the medic assured me that see would make a full recovery.

I held her hand in mine. It had been bandaged up but the cuts weren't deep. Her fingers lifeless lay in my hand. Her long eyelashes rested on her flushed cheeks.

As I gazed at her face, she winced, her body momentarily tensing up. I looked up at the medic who was gently looking over her right shoulder.

"What is it?" I asked getting worried.

"It's definitely displaced and there may be some damage to the bones but nothing a simple surgery can't fix." He kindly smiled at me. The ambulance stopped suddenly and the doors swung open.

I looked at Gracie. She had just come out of the operation to repair her shoulder. Everything went well, but I still stood outside of the operating room, waiting on results. The doctors said that she would wake up soon, she just needs to rest. Her arm sat across her chest in a sling. The hospital gown was put under her arm, revealing her bare shoulder. An IV drip had been put into her uninjured arm. I sighed as I held her left hand, carefulto avoid hurting the bandaged cut.

My hand lingered to her face as I tucked a single strand of brown hair behind her ear. I found my fingers lingering on the soft skin of her cheek.

*Gracie's POV*

I could feel Liam's gentle touch on my cheek and listened to the sound of his staggered breath, like he'd been crying. All I wanted to do was tell him I was ok, but I found myself unconscious. It was strange, I could hear everything, the soft steps of a doctor as he entered the room, the soft beeping of a heart monitor, tr conversations about my health. It wasn't long before I heard the door of the room open and a group of people walked in.

"Oh, you must be Liam!" It was a soft gentle voice that could only belong to my mother. This was not how I planned for them to meet Liam. "I'm Gracie's Mom, but you can call me Anna." I heard my mom's agile footsteps as she approached Liam and I heard Liam's gasp for breath as my mother greeted him with one of her bone crushing hugs.

"Paul, Gracie's Father." I heard my dad's authoritative voice. I could picture him standing there with his arms crossed against his chest trying to seem intimidating. Or putting his hands on his hips to draw attention to his badge. I could hear the awkward silence as Liam offered his hand to be shook and my father refused.

"Luke." My little brother said, trying to imitate dad's tone of voice and failing.

*Liam's POV*

I let out a little whine as Gracie's petite mom wrapped me in a death grip. She had Gracie's brown curly hair and her hug mirrored Gracie's. She always gave good hugs, ones that made all of your problems melt away.

"Paul, Gracie's Father." Her dad was less than inviting. I offered my hand to shake but he just raised an eyebrow at me. His eyes were the same Hazel as Gracie's with the same edge of intelligence.

"Luke." He looked like he was about fourteen or fifteen, but he crossed his arms over his chest and tried to mimic his dad's stern expression. He was modeled more after his dad, having his lighter hair but he had his mom's sympathetic blue eyes.

"I'm John." The other man stuck out his hand in a more friendly way than the other men. "I'm the eldest." He had Gracie's welcoming smirk. I shook his hand and repeated my name.

"It's nice to finally meet all of you." I said trying to hide the nervousness in my voice.

"Liam you look exhausted, why don't you go grab some tea?" Her mom said, putting a comforting hand on my arm. She had the same worried look Gracie would give me. I nodded and slowly walked out of the room. It would be good to give them some family time anyway.
