Pushed Around (Nathan Sykes)

Chapter 4

It was early Thursday morning, I smiled to myself seeing that there was a thin layer of snow on the London streets. I changed into a warm sweater and jeans braiding my hair back before making sure that I had my camera, phone, keys and laptop in my bag before walking out of my flat. I smiled seeing Albert waiting for me in front of my building. "Good morning Al." I smiled at him sitting in the back.

"Good morning Layla. Straight to the office correct?" He asked pulling away from the curb.

"Yup. It's a big day, first day working with the team." I grinned widely. I couldn't wait to start working on this cover and every other cover and original song with my team, I know that we're going to make every single one amazing.

"Be sure to show me as soon as whatever you're working on is done." Albert said stopping at the studio. Albert has drove me around for the past day showing me everything that I wanted to see and more, he's starting to be like that cool uncle to me. 

"Will do, see you later Al." I smiled running from the car and through the building smiling and saying hi to Missy quickly before jumping into the elevator bouncing as it felt like it was taking forever to get to the studio. When it finally stopped I ran down the hall stopping as I got to the door, hearing everyone laughing. I pulled my camera out of my bag quickly turning it on.

"Alright everyone, this is the first day with the new team," I said before I opened the door, "Let's get this party started!" I exclaimed making everyone jump and look at me before laughing. 

"What's the first thing to do than boss?" Leo asked.

"Song, or medley."

"We should do a medley!" Lucy grinned.

"Agreed. But which artist should we do? Or should we do different songs?" I asked walking into the room setting my bag down on the couch.

"What artist haven't you covered before?" Raven asked.

"Um... I have no clue. And going through my channel is going to take forever." I sighed.

"To twitter!" Adam exclaimed pushing my phone into my hands. Good point.

"LaylaSage: Hey guys! Working on a medley with the team, what artist should we do that we haven't really covered on the channel?" I sent the tweet sighing knowing that we would be waiting for a little while, but my phone was blowing up like crazy. Oh right, the label made an announcement that I was now signed to them, and I made a video on my channel. I gained a few subs and a lot of followers on twitter after people started watching my videos.

People were naming artists like, Little Mix, Demi Lovato, Pink, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, the list goes on and on, there was a lot of One Directions and 5SOS, another time people. "I say Pink or Demi." AJ says looking over my shoulder.

"Who wants to do what? I love both of them." I said nodding at what AJ said. I love both Demi and Pink they are so amazing.

"Demi." 

"Demi.

"Pink."

"Demi."

"Pink."

"Demi it is." I smiled. "Alright, let's get to work." Everyone grabbed pens and paper, laptops, or tablets sitting down and going through songs. I sat down myself, putting my headphones on and just listened to Demi's music, I wrote done songs that  I wanted to do over others, narrowing down the list picking out lyrics and seeing how they would fit together. I looked up at everyone, Lucy seemed to be the only other one doing work, but who knows what she was actually was doing on her tablet. I picked up my camera turning it on and recording at the perfect time when AJ and Adam started throwing small pieces of paper and other things at Leo who seemed to be mixing something. I got up walking over to Leo with my camera pulling off his headphones slowly.

"Whacha doin' Leo?" I asked him making him jump sky high everyone was laughing. 

"Holy! Don't do that to me!" He said holding his chest trying to to laugh himself. "But I'm taking the base of most of her songs and seeing how I can mix them to see how we can put them together. Anyone have any songs or lyrics?" He asked. I nodded grabbing my laptop setting it down next to his. 

Everyone got up looking at it shock covered their faces. "Yo, this is amazing." Leo said grinning at the screen. "I can work with this. Raven hit the key board for me, I need you to test some of these." Raven got right up and walked into the recording booth. 

"So you want to sing this on the spot or record it first?" Leo asked turning in his chair to look at me. I really didn't know.

"Can we do both?"

"Anything for you girl. If you can make a medley like this I can't wait to see you write songs. You go walk around for a little while get some coffee while we work on putting the music together. You'll either be back to record vocals before we're done, or we'll send AJ to go and find you. Just don't leave the building." Leo grinned at me turning back to the booth pulling his headphones back on. I really wanted to stay and watch, but at the same time I wanted to explore the building really bad. 

I thought about it, thinking that I could really use some tea or something. I shouldn't be gone too long. I grabbed my phone telling everyone I would be back before leaving the room and mindlessly walking down the halls. I walked down the hall all of the studios lined up they were all pretty much empty, it was still really early, only about 8, though you would think that there would be people here by now. I continued to walk down the hall when I heard someone singing. I couldn't hear it that well, but how I could hear it they were amazing. I knew I shouldn't listen in on someone, even if they were just singing, or walk into a recording studio, but I had to know who was singing. 

I found the studio, behind the glass sat a grand piano with a boy playing it, his back was to me. I closed my eyes listening to the song he was singing.

"Dammit!" He exclaimed. Pounding down on the keys. That last note didn't sound right. I should leave before he sees me. "What in the hell is that note?!" The boy shouted putting his head down. I think I know his problem though. I shouldn't, but I hit the button that turned on the intercom.

"True an octave lower." He picked his head up looking around before seeing me. "Just do it." I didn't look at him. I couldn't, it felt wrong that I was even listening to him without him knowing in the first place, he could get mad at me. When I heard the piano being played again I looked up. The boy looked over his shoulder and I was in shock when seeing him.

Hey everyone! I know it's been almost a month, school has been nuts and the last couple of days I've had the flu so I couldn't write if I wanted too, but I finally felt well enough and knew that I had to update. 

Up top is the medley that Layla will be singing.
