The next morning I walked into the recording studio seeing Mr. Leens standing in the middle of the room. "Good morning Mr. Leens." I said to him setting my bag down on a chair.
"Layla, we need to speak. In my office." Was all he said to me before walking out of my studio. This didn't sound good. I quickly followed behind him as he walked down to his office. Walking in I found Nathan sitting in one of the chairs in front of Mr. Leens desk. Yeah, this just has a big fat red flag of bad news.
"I've asked you two here today to talk to you about a video that you made yesterday." He said sitting down and turning his computer to face us.
"Holy shit! It has almost a million views?! That's amazing!" I exclaimed looking at the screen. I've never had anywhere close to that many views on one of my videos.
"Yes, yes, congratulations Layla. But that is the problem." Mr. Leens said frowning.
"I don't see how..." I trailed off looking at the video.
"The ending to that video his the problem Layla." He said going to the end when Nathan kissed my cheek. "That right there is the problem. Nathan is meant to have a girlfriend. You are not her."
"A girlfriend who I did not ask for." Nathan snapped.
"That's not my problem. That is your managers problem. Layla you are to take down this video or change it at once. You two are also to stay away from each other. I don't care what you two have, it will stop now. If you see each other in the halls, you are to not speak to each other and just walk away. You will no longer work on songs together. Are we clear." Mr. Leens snapped. He looked furious. Red as a baboons bum. Ready to pull someone's head off.
"But Mr-" I tried only to be stopped.
"Fix the video Layla. Or take it down. Are we clear?" He said glaring at me.
"Yes sir." I said bitting my lip. I wanted to badly to yell at him, or to cry. Maybe both.
"You may leave now." I turned away from the desk going to walk out of the room, Nathan behind me. "And remember, no talking to each other. At all." I froze at the door wanting to turn and slap that man, but I knew that I couldn't. I needed him so I could do what I love. So I could make music.
Walking out of the room, hearing the door close I turned to Nathan who didn't look at me. "Nathan..." He walked closer to me, stopping for a second before walking past me. My heart shattered. I looked at Nathan as he walked away before walking into his studio. "Nathan...?" I whispered once again. I felt the tears running down my cheeks before running back to my studio.
Running in everyone looked at me before running over a pulling me into a hug. "What's wrong baby girl?" AJ asked holding my face in his hands. They were all so amazing. Treated me like family.
I shook my head running a hand through my hair. "Adam, will you do me a huge favor a take down the video from yesterday?" I asked looking up at him.
"But why? That video's done so well! You and Nathan were amazing." Lucy gasped.
"That's why." I told them. "I'll explain in full later. Just someone, take down that video or cut the end of it. Please."
"Alright girl. Why don't you go home? Come back tomorrow, I know that you'll have some juicy lyrics to write tomorrow." Leo said handing me my bag. I smiled at them giving a nod before walking out of the studio. I walked down the hall stopping in front of Nathan's studio. He was sat at the piano like always. He paused, looking up as if he knew I was there. I looked down for the second before looking back at him out of the corner of my eye.
CHECK YOUR PHONE WHEN YOU GET HOME!!
He wrote on a white board. He set it down before going back to playing. I grabbed my phone in my hand giving it a small smile. He walked past me for a reason. He's making the act.
