Pushed Around (Nathan Sykes)

Chapter 14

I stood in Mr. Leens office waiting for him to give me feedback after I showed him my new song. He sat in his chair just looking at his desk for what felt like years before he sat back and smiled. 

"This. This is what I like to hear." I jumped and shouted with excitement after he said that. "I'm going to show this to the marketing team and talk with them about a release date, then we'll work on a video date."

"Thank you so much Mr. Leens! You really like it?" I was so happy, I don't know what to do anymore. 

"It shows you have emotion, that you have passion. You're going to go far Layla, very far." I feel like I'm about to explode. "Now to celebrate with your team. Hell I'm feeling nice, go out to dinner with them, take Nathan even, as long as his girlfriend is there." My heart skipped a beat when he said that. Invite Nathan, I can see Nathan and not have to hide.

"Thank you sir. Really." I ran from the room with my laptop. I bolted down the stairs knowing the elevator would take to long for my liking. I ran past Nathan's studio where he was sitting at the piano looking annoyed. I banged on the window to get his attention, he gave me a shocked and confused look I waved for him to follow me running to my studio where my team sat looking nerves as hell. 

"WELL?!" They shouted as they looked at me. Nathan came in a second later still looking confused.

"HE LOVED IT!" I exclaimed making them jump to their feet with joy. I jumped with them hugging them, we do so good on this song I can't wait for more.

"What's going on?" Nathan asked holding me still.

"I just showed Leens my first song! He loved it! He's taking it to marketing now." I told him grinning from ear to ear. He look on his face changed so fast as he pulled me into a hug starting to jump with my team.

"You're first single! I'm so happy for you Layla! We need to celebrate!" 

"Let's all go to dinner. Text Lacey and let's all go to dinner." I said looking at everyone. Nathan nodded pulling out his phone. "So where's a good place to eat?" I look at the team who sighed going into though.

"There's Nando's." Leo said with a shrug.

"No we have to do better then that! This is a big deal!" Raven said.

"Nando's is a big deal?" Leo said confused.

"I found this cute place a couple of blocks from here the other day, we can try that out." Lucy said trying to block out the Nando's argument. We all seemed to agree on that seeing as no one had any other idea that was good. 

"Alright let's break and everyone meet back here in half an hour. Oh I have to invite Missy! She's going to freakout!" I ran from the studio taking the stairs again, wow, I did not realize how out of shape I am. So much regret is in my body right now.

"Missy!" I shouted as I entered the lobby. "Missy, he loved the song! We're going to dinner, meet me back here in half an hour for dinner with everyone!" I ran up to her jumping, again so out of shape, too much physical activity for one day. 

"You're joking! This is great! I'll be here!" She was just as happy as the rest of us. She sat with me as I wrote this song, so she's as much a part of this as anyone else truly. I waved running from the building, I saw Al standing next to his car as if waiting for me.

"So?" He knew it was a big day, I think he's my number one fan some days.

"He loved it." I grinned. "We're all going out to celebrate. I need to get back to my flat to get ready then be back in half an hour. Can we do it?" I explained.

"We better get going then!" He opened the door for me and I jumped in. I can't believe this just happened.
