Lily's POV:
It's been a few days since Paige heard about the competition. She's legitimately going insane, but she loves singing so I support her for her dreams.
"Come on ladies, we need to practice again. It needs to be perfect!" Paige exasperated.
We were at her house, practicing for the singing competition.
"Paige, I need a break..." I trailed off.
"I need food...I'm dying!" Ali exaggerated.
She was on the floor holding her stomach. Honestly she looked like she was having an orgasm, but I wouldn't say that out loud...
"You look like you're having an orgasm!" Paige laughed.
"Hey, I was just thinking that!" I accused.
"Sure, Lily." Ali said, standing up.
If only they knew...
"Well I'm leaving." I spoke as I grabbed my stuff.
"What? Why? I need you!" Paige 'cried'.
"I have work." I told them.
They both looked at me will a shocked expression on their faces. "What?" Paige asked.
"When did you ever start working?" Ali asked in horror.
"I've worked before..." I trailed off, hoping that they wouldn't bring back the memories of my last attempts of working.
"Well, you've worked before...but it's not like you're good at it." Paige stated truthfully.
"Hey!" I pouted.
"Remember that one time when you worked for my uncle and you set his restaurant on fire?" Ali laughed.
"And that one time where you worked at my old job, the salon, and you turned that old lady's hair hot pink?" Paige cackled.
"And when you were the waitress for Paige's brother's graduation party, and you accidentally tripped and the cake landed on Josh's face?" Ali cracked up.
"And when-"
"Ok! I get it! I'm bad at working, but I think that I can do this job...I really want to have this career for like the rest of my life." I told them.
"What's your job?" Ali questioned.
"Well actually I'm just volunteering at an animal shelter first. But I figured out that I want to become a vet, so I was like why not start here?"
"Awesome, Lil." Paige encouraged.
"Yeah, you'll do great." Ali told me.
"Thanks," I smiled. They let me leave, so I made my way to the animal shelter.
"Hey, Lindsay." I greeted as I made it into the animal shelter.
"Hi, Lily. Thanks for coming early. Now can you please feed the dogs?" Lindsay asked.
"Yeah, no problem." I accepted.
I made my way to the back of the shelter, and instantly saw the starving animals. I quickly grabbed the animal food and walked over to the dog bowls.
The bag was really heavy, so I stopped walking for a little, but then the bag broke in my hands and the food fell onto the ground.
"Awe! Come on!" I said aggravated.
The dogs started barking obnoxiously. I bent down and started scooping the food in my hands and individually walking to a single bowl and dumping handfuls into it.
