CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

"What do you want for dinner?" she asked as they were in the grocery.

"Anything, I don't have any in mind." Lowell replied, pushing the cart, following her and only to notice her put three packs of sanitary napkin into their cart. Napkin? A sudden question started rumbling into his head.

"By the way, Mama called me yesterday," Catrin spoke as they already in the car, finished the grocery. "...she's asking when we will visit them."

"Are you taking pills?" Lowell asked instead as he preparing to start the ignition.

"Ha?" she subconsciously said.

"Tell me, are you taking any contraceptives?" he asked again.

Catrin momentarily paused, staring at him. "What's with the sudden question?" she answered with a question.

"Why not just answer me?" he started to feel irritated. "...just simply say yes or no,"

She sighed. "Answer me first," she responded in the same tone, irritated. "Why all of a sudden you are asking such?"

Lowell clenched the steering wheel and started the car instead. Without any word, they reach the house.

"Lowell?" she called, following him as he bringing out all their groceries to the kitchen. "Why don't we talk?"

He didn't any response and walked upstairs.

She grabbed his arm and waited for him to stop walking. "What's the problem?" she asked in a low tone voice, controlling her temper.

"The problem is that, you can't answer me by either yes or no!" he hissed, turned on her.

She gasped. It was the first time that he looked furious. He is mad. "Lowell-" she was cut.

"We've made love many times, Catrin. And I think, I deserve to know if you're taking any contraceptives. It's been months since the first time I touched you...you surrendered your body to me...all you." He muttered in between his anger.

"But I am not taking any pills or contraceptives," she uttered, controlling not to cry in front of him.

"Then why you are still not pregnant?" he subconsciously added then paused. What did I say? Pregnant? Is that the reason why I became anger?

Pregnant? Catrin shocked. She don't know how answer. No words coming out from her.

"I'm sorry. I should have not said that." Lowell uttered, calming down himself. He walked-out the house instead.

"W-where you going?" she stammered, trying to stopped him.

Catrin woke up and noticed he has not come back yet. It was already past ten o'clock in the evening. She dialed his number but it can't be reach. She restlessly sighed.

She move out from bed and then goes out of the room. Should I call Andrew to check if he's with my husband? Or should I call Penelope to get some advice?

NO! I will look for him around the village. She decided and only to noticed that his car was already there. "He's here?" she muttered then went back inside the house and search for him.

She found him in the living room, sitting alone in the sofa. She blew out air and entered the room. He was watching a TV.

"Lowell," she hugged his neck from his back, placing her chin on his shoulder.

"Are you still mad?" she sweetly asked, pouted.

"I'm sorry," Lowell huskily said, tightens his grip to her wrist and kissed it. "...I should've not said that," he took a deep breath. "...it was so childish of me. And I'm so selfish to think that you don't want us to have a baby."
