kaeleigh-

you know, i never believed in something being good. i always thought that anything great that happened would be followed by something terrible, which would knock the great thing out. and when calum and i were happy and in love, i actually did believe in something good. i didn't think anything could go wrong. but of course, there is always something that can go wrong, and it always does.

"good morning sweetie," my dad greeted, kissing the top of my head. "sleep well?"

"you're in a good mood." i stated. "but yeah, i did. very well, actually."

"good," he nodded. "and i'm in a good mood because my boss said i'm being considered for a promotion."

"oh?" i questioned, and he smiled happily. "good for you."

"good for us actually," dad corrected. "i'll make a lot more money but only have to work a few more hours a week."

"oh, that's good," i grinned, happy for him. "aren't you running late though?"

my dad checked his watch on his wrist, and grimaced. "śhit. thanks, kaeleigh."

"have a good day! i love you!" i called after him, and he repeated the words before closing the door.

[good thing.]

no sooner than the door had shut did my phone ring. i glanced at the caller ID, and pressed 'answer.'

"good morning," i chirped.

"i'm hungry."

"well, hello to you too."

calum chuckled. "sorry. good morning, baby."

i smiled, "good morning. so why don't you come over and we'll have breakfast."

"sounds great." calum responded. "and i'm glad you suggested so, because i'm in front of your house."

i pressed the 'end' button without replying, and went to the front door to open it. calum grinned at me, a dog leash in hand, and spread his arms apart.

"ta-da!"

i rolled my eyes, and turned around, going back to the kitchen. "close the door behind you."

i heard it shut. "well, hello to you too."

i looked over my shoulder and stared at him. he unhooked the leash from maxie's collar, and she ran off to the living room. "you're mocking me."

"mhm," he hummed, kissing my cheek. "i love you."

"i love you too."

a smile spread across his face, "alright, so what's this breakfast i was promised?"

"you could make pancakes."

"why do i have to make them?" calum whined. "i always burn them, and i usually forget an ingredient."

"i'll teach you." i stated, and began gathering all materials needed to make pancakes.

[good thing.]

-

"okay, well i'm still unable to make pancakes," calum said an hour later. "but you can still make great ones."

i smiled at him, and kissed his lips softly. "hey, can you take your shirt off?"

calum blinked, before smirking. "oh? of course."

i shook my head, "i wanna see your tattoos."

"is that our code word?"

"shut up," i mumbled, as he laughed and lifted his grey shirt over his head. i reached forward, placing my hand over to tattoo below his collarbone. i traced the three letters lightly, and didn't realize that i was smiling.

"you're adorable." calum whispered. i looked up at him, and he smiled at me. "you have pretty eyes, too."

"you have pretty cheeks," i murmured. "and your hair is really soft." i picked up one of his hands and wrapped mine around it. "and i really like your hands."

calum and i looked at each other. "how?"

i furrowed my eyebrows at him and he continued. "how could you possibly love me and be this incredible?"

i think my heart actually skipped a beat.

"because loving you is thrilling," i replied quietly. "not boring, where i know that you'll just kiss me all the time and we do nothing. but exciting because you just kiss me and do nothing. it shouldn't be this good, yet it's so much better with you. it's worth anything that comes with it."

"fûck," calum breathed out. "i - wh - shït - kae - i love you."

[great thing.]

i smiled, as calum leaned forward to press a kiss to my lips. i ran my fingers through his hair, and his fingertips pressed near my ear as he cupped my cheeks. our mouths moved against one another, until my phone rang.

calum groaned and there was a bark from behind me, as maxie jumped up on the couch to lick calum's face. i chuckled as i pressed the device to my ear. "hello?"

"kaeleigh."

"ash?" i sat up straight, hearing the urgency in his voice. "what's wrong?"

"is calum with you? he wouldn't answer his phone?" ashton was breathing heavily, and my concern only grew.

"yes," i answered, looking at calum, who stared at me confusedly. "he's right here."

"oh good," ashton sounded relieved. "you guys need to get to the hospital as soon as possible."

"what!?" i questioned.

"luke-" ashton's voice cracked, "luke was in an accident."

the phone fell from my hand and onto the tile floor, creating a sound that i couldn't hear, but a big bang nevertheless.

[very, very bad thing.]
