kaeleigh-

amber turned her fierce glare to tony, causing him to flinch away from her. she held her gaze as he slowly backed away; then she realized that he was walking away from her. her eyes softened, and she spoke with a gentle voice. "tony? i'm sorry. it's not your fault. come back, please, come back to me."

tony's heart almost melted at her plea. he sat back down next to amber, allowing her to cling onto him. "what's the matter?"

"i don't know."

hearing amber sound so helpless, so vulnerable, made tony ache all over. he just wanted her to feel safe, to be happy. "amber, what's wrong?" he repeated, trying to get the answer from her.

"i feel these," amber struggled to find the words. "things. i don't know, tony. i feel different. my stomach flips when you touch me, and my skin tingles when you whisper in my ear. i don't know what i'm feeling or why i'm feeling it."

"it's love," tony spoke quietly, "it's love."

"what does it mean?"

"it means we're in love."

"kaeleigh!"

i snapped my laptop closed, spinning around in my desk chair to look at my mom. "yeah?"

"calum's here," she told me with a smile, "he's downstairs."

"why wouldn't he just come up?" i asked, walking behind my mom and following her downstairs. she didn't answer me, and i understood when i reached the landing.

"hi."

"hi?"

calum chuckled, handing me the flowers in his hand. "the other ones got ruined when i ran away. so i figured i would buy you new ones."

"thank you," i smiled, taking the bouquet. my mom offered to put them in a vase, so i handed them to her and she disappeared into the kitchen. "does this mean we're going to have our fun day today?"

"of course," he grinned, "but first, we have to go to the mall."

"you're gonna get a tattoo, aren't you?"

"no." he lied, but the smirk still played at his lips. "ready? let's go."

"bye mom!" i shouted as i followed him outside to the car. i got in the passenger side, and grinned at calum as he started the car.

"oh!" i exclaimed, reaching forward to turn up the volume on the radio. "i love this song."

i knew calum rolled his eyes, but i was too caught up in the song to care.

all my life, you stood by me, when no one else was ever behind me.

all these lights, they can't blind me, with your love nobody can drag me down.

"don't act like this is a bad song," i poked calum's cheek, "one direction is your favorite."

"one direction is your favorite." he corrected, looking at me briefly. "but yeah, this song is okay."

the corners of my lips turned up, and i wasn't sure why him saying that made me so happy. maybe it was just him that made me happy. he was my best friend, of course he made me happy.

we continued the drive to the mall, all the while singing songs off key, and soon pulled into the lot. calum found a parking space close to the front, and we got out, making our way inside.

"so what are you getting?" i asked, as calum waited for someone to lead him into one of the rooms.

"not telling," he answered in a sing song voice, causing me to pout. he put his fingers on the corners of my mouth, pulling them upwards. "turn that frown upside down!"

i laughed, slapping his hands away from me. calum laughed his almost hiccup-like laugh, making the smile on my face grow wider.

soon, he was being whisked off to the back, so i sat in one of the chairs on my phone. i subconsciously played with the ring on my bottom lip, not tugging too hard as it was still a little sore. i'm not sure how much time passed before calum was exiting from the curtain, an excited grin on his face.

i stood, making my way over to him at the counter as he payed. "what'd you get?"

"i'll show you when we get home." calum replied, making me groan in frustration. "but it's here," he pointed to below his collarbone on the left side. "and it's not big or anything."

i nodded, somewhat satisfied for getting that much information. he put his wallet back in his pocket, and looked at me, "let's go get ice cream."

i laughed, walking with him out of the store and towards the ice cream parlor. "you're still jealous that the boys and i got piercings, then ice cream?"

"pfft," calum shook his head, "no."

i laughed again at his lie, and he smiled a little. we entered the ice cream shop, and i insisted that i payed for his ice cream as well as mine. as i handed the woman the bills, she took them with a smile. "you two are a very cute couple."

"we aren't a couple," i protested.

"thanks." calum nodded, and i took the change from her.

"why did you say thanks?" i asked him as we sat down at a table. "we aren't a couple."

"well, we're a couple of friends," he shrugged, and i rolled my eyes.

"that's not how it works." i stuck my tongue out at him, he returned the gesture, and i grinned. "so what are we doing next?"

"going home." calum responded, "to watch movies that we probably won't even watch."

-

"okay, show me the tattoo," was the first i said when we walked into my house.

calum chuckled before pulling his shirt over his head, and i didn't even notice the blush on my cheeks at seeing him shirtless. i watched in anticipation as he carefully removed the bandage. i gasped at the letters on his skin.

"cal." i breathed, hesitantly stepping forward and running my hand over the tattoo.

"i figured," calum began, looking at me intently. "that since i have my parents' initials on my hands, and mali's name on my arm, that i should get yours somewhere. and you're my best friend, so i got yours here," he put his hand on top of mine, holding it against his chest. "because you're close to my heart."

"shít, calum." my eyes widened, not able to take them off the place where the letters 'k.a.h' were covered by our hands. kaeleigh anne hall.

"why are you crying?" he whispered, wiling the tears off my cheek with his thumb on his other hand.

"you fùcking-" i paused, closing my eyes and breathing deeply. "you got my fücking initials fùcking tattooed on your chest."

"'s not big deal." calum said quietly, and i scoffed. "okay, well it's kind of a big deal."

"if you hate me one day, you'll regret this," i choked out, not really sure why i was crying. well, no one's ever gotten my name tattooed on them before.

"i'll never hate you."

i looked up, and noticed him staring at me. his brown eyes pierced mine, and i couldn't help the chills that were sent down my spine. i blinked, shaking my head. "so what movie are we watching?"

i didn't miss the disappointed look on calum's face as we went into the living room and started a movie.

what was that?

and what the hèll is this feeling in my chest?
