Finn's POV
I sensed him, and my gun was pulled out even before I saw him. Right away I began to fire away at the 'Angel' in front of me. I snickered at the thought. Why would people give such nice names to monsters? Why do they worship some, and not others? I didn't stop pulling the trigger, no matter how hard Ambrew and Crainer tried to hold me back. I just used their own foolish minds against them, and got them to just sit, as I was too busy trying to kill this bloody monster of an angel to control them enough to help me. They'd be useless anyway. Demons, angels, and humans. They were all the same to me. All equally as disgusting, sickening, and all monsters. I remember thinking these same thoughts as I made these bullets especially for him. I remember watching as I sliced myself deep open with my talons, and watching my blood seep into the little containers and vials spread all around me on the ground, leaving new marks that I'll never clean to stain the lab's floor, my home's floor, forever. I remember watching as my hated freak of a body healed itself tidily, only to be sliced right back open again not a second after. No matter how many scars may live inside of me, I can't seem to leave one that truly shows. I'm not insane, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little mad. Eventually the freak had lost focus, and one of my precious bullets hit their target. Finally. Then another, and another, but of course my extermination had to be interrupted. Three clouds of different colors appeared with men inside them. Right away I could feel their strong magic, signalling that they were sorcerers, and that they were not here to have fun.
Now I had more to deal with. Great. I dodged fireball after acid after minion and blood rune, never sopping my defence or offence. Sometimes I even landed an attack. I needed to be clever. I was already acting against orders, so I needed to make this worth it. I kept on firing at the angel boy, until I saw one of the wizards, the purple one, begin to approach him. I watched until they were together, then used a slight skill to my advantage. No matter how much magic a pure human has, they are still human. I sent only one command to the sorcerer, heal him the best you can. I wouldn't want the corrupted angel coming out. That'd make this all much more difficult. I did, on the other hand, want to weaken the safe angel, so I'd infused the bullets with my dragon blood.
Soon I realized that the sorcerer didn't have any healing potions or anything of that type on him, so I got him to call another wizard over. Now there was less magic attacking me. I had an idea, one that's definitely make this all a bit more interesting. Show off a little I commanded to the purple wizard, making him pull out a different potion than expected. Oh, maybe even a home-brewed! This'll be great. I kept watching, but it seemed like something'd went wrong. Of course, I was right.
Ian was laying on the ground, out cold, but two little red spikes had begun to escape from a crack in his back. The ground around him was soon stained in the bright red color of blood. I knew what was going on, and it seemed like the wizards did too. While they'd left their golden friend to continue attacking me (those pricks), they began to place a strong barrier around him. One with so many layers and runes it was unbelievable. Eventually they'd begun to ignore me and called their friend over to help.
"Brice, hurry! We need you too!" Yelled the violet one.
"Is Derp really that strong?" The blonde questioned.
"HELL YES! If he was awake enough, he could destroy the entire country in a month!" He responded.
Apparently the one with the black cloak wasn't talking. After what he did, I couldn't blame him, at all. I was actually the one to blame. Now free, I reloaded my gun and walked towards their force field, admiring their work. Personally, I found defensive spells quite difficult to cast, so I had an itch of jealousy for their skill. It was, after all, quite the impressive shield. Composed of almost all elements, like electricity, wind, water, fire, earth, and even some blood runes from the black cloaked wizard, who, now that I'd gotten a better look at him, was seemingly bleeding from his eyes. It was a masterpiece, but for some reason it still didn't seem strong enough.
"Hey, dragon boy!" The voice caught my attention, causing me to look up at the purple sorcerer. "Name?" He asked. I was a little surprised by his formality, but responded anyway. "Finn."
"Cool. I'm Seto, that's Brice," He pointed to the golden wizard. "And that's James." He pointed to the one in black. He then continued. "Since it seems like your 'co-workers' are out, would you mind helping us with this? You know, to stop global destruction and all?"
I turned around, and saw that Ambrew, Crainer, Lancey, and Ava were all still sitting like obedient little dogs under my spell. I knew that if I woke them up, they'd all try to do something stupid, or kill me. Turning back around, I agreed. "Fine, but on one condition."
"Yes, yes, just please hurry. He's waking up!"
Peering into the box, I saw how right he was. Red wings were fully grown now, and blood was seeping from every pore. I was kinda amazed by how he hadn't yet run out.
"If he escapes, I get to fight him, and kill him."
It took him a while to respond. "No way." But then there was another answer, a telepathic one. I didn't know who it was from, but it was clear. 'Yes. You can kill him. Actually, please do so, but only if he escapes or if things get out of hand.'
'Who are you?' I asked, but no response was given.
"Okay." I approached the shield and gave it my all. I watched as it turned from a bright blue, to one with a silver haze. It turned solid and strong, but it was a weak red at the corners. That's what always happens. It's like both my magic and I are incomplete. I closed my eyes tight, focusing and blocking things out, content on bringing this monster down the best I could.
Soon, a loud roar sounded from inside the shield, signalling the Derp's awakening at completion. My eyes shot open, soaking in the scene playing in front of me. A beautiful, bloody monster throwing itself at its cage, trying desperately to break free, all the while writhing in agony from the attacks coming from the walls of the space that confines him. This is true beauty at it's finest. A perfect representation of what it's like to be me. A monster. I wanted to destroy it, so I did probably the most genius and brilliant thing I've ever done. Crafting my hand into the claw of a dragon, I molded a gateway inside of each layer of the shield as I walked through. I ignored the screams and warning of the wizards as I walked, hearing them less and less with each layer. Eventually I reached the core. The last layer of the weakened shield. Looking up, I saw that the bloody angel had stopped trying to escape, but instead was just staring at me, watching. I then did the one thing I'd never done to anyone else but me, and looking inside of him.
I remember how I looked on the inside, like the messed surgery performed on a doll by a young child, different pieces that didn't belong. Inhuman bones and muscles growing inside of me, stabs and slices, surrounded by bruises. I was hideous on the inside, and he wasn't to different. He looked tortured, torn, and shattered. He looked drugged, weakened, and confused. He looked like a mother of two demons, and two angels, all the while being raised by them, and always sleeping. In his mind was a mix of colors, split sharply in two with no more than a thin white thread holding them together. The tread I recognized from somewhere else, my own mind, as the thread of sanity. Both mine and his were tearing, although mine was much further worn. He had something more, a casing around it, holding it together, healing it. I knew what it was, it had to be it. The casing was something I hadn't seen in a long, long time, and I never got to see with the eyes I had now. It was the health of love. Love for his wife, love for his friends, his family, and above all, his child.
Tears stained my cheeks as the monster went back to it's flailing, it's pathetic attempts to escape. It looked tired, and the first wall hadn't even broken yet. I didn't want to kill him any more, but I had to. I know I had to. It was all my fault in the first place, so I have to finish it. Eventually, The wall was reaching it's breaking point, so I did what I had to do. Wings sprouted from my back, getting ready to fight in dragon form. Any second now the wall will break, and I'll have to kill the most beautiful monster I'd ever seen. Then, it did. With an ear shattering smash, the wall fell.
The dragon and the angel charged headfirst toward each other, both human halves thinking the same thing.
I'm sorry.
