Lucas' POV

We're here.

I just want to see her.

A figure waves from up high in an old oak tree, his pearly white teeth glowing.

"How d'ya get here so fast?" I ask, slamming the door of the van as I get out. Maya stumbles out, and Farkle moves his hand through his hair (don't all boys do that? The boys in my grade do-C)

"I'm not stupid boyo. I took a train, forced Pappy Joe to eat his medicine, said 'How Dee' to old Tombstone, and have been waiting here for two hours, seven minutes and twenty-six seconds." Zay tipped his cowboy hat, and came down from the tree.

Maya wobbled out of the van, and chucked her sneaker at Zay. She sat down on the grass, hugging her knees.

"What d'you find Zayday?"

"Since when did you call me Zayday?"

"Maya had a pregnancy scare," Farkle blurted out. Zay's eyes became as wide as saucers, and my jaw dropped.

"I'm not pregnant," Maya assured, her eyes throwing daggers at Farkle. He fiddled with his belt.

"Anyway," Zay began, sitting down next to Maya. "Riley's staying in a motel that's not far from here. We're meant to meet her at CHUBBY'S tonight."

Even though it's summer, the sky is a sea of steam, gray, desolate rags boiling high. The grass is scorched and yellow, as if an alchemist had failed an experiment on the grass. The soft hum of the crickets awakening is soothing.

I'm here Riley, I sent her telepathetically, hoping that she would hear me.

Riley's POV

I'm here Riley.

The dream calmed my thoughts for a few minutes, until Demon Luacs slammed me against the wall, and Demon Maya whispered daggers of thought, that pierced my heart.

"He had a better time with me."

"You're drowning Riley."

"No lifeguard."

"You are a worthless piece of s**t!"

"We came from hell to bring you back."

I did nothing wrong! I cried mentally, as Demon Lucas withdrew desperate whimpers from my mouth.

"You know you deserve this."

"You are nothing to him."

"ENOUGH," I yelled, and the Demons disappeared.

Only for a while.

Enough tears for one day. Even though it's bloody hot, I slip on a pair of dark blue skinny jeans. Tossing my hair into a high ponytail, I adjust my simple white singlet, grab my rucksack and lock the door.

I wasn't returning.

---------------------------------

Lucas' POV

I slam my hands on the desk of the motel receptionist. Maya and Zay instinctively grab a hold of my arms, and Farkle jumps on my back. Texas Lucas was pretty furious right now.

"What. Do you mean-"
"OMG JUSTIN BIEBER!!!!!!!" the receptionist gushes excitedly.
"SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!" we all screech, and she cowers in her seat. She's a petite teenager, with black hair piled into a messy updo, and looks peculiar in the plain pink uniform.

"What do you mean we can't check out Room 66?" I growled, my fingernails digging into the wood.
"The lady there checked out ten minutes ago."
Ten minutes?
"We need to see the records."
"I'm afraid I don't have the authority to do that sir."
"WE. NEED. TO SEE. THE RECORDS. Is that so hard?"

Maya rolls her eyes, and pushes me aside, flipping her hair flamboyantly. "Let me handle this Huckleberry," she smirks, and launches into a deep conversation about Justin Bieber's abs. Poor Maya looks like she's about to vomit, as the girl goes on and on and on about how handsome Justin Bieber is, and how amazingly talented is.

(A/N I hate JB. To all you beliebers, sorry not sorry.😂😂 I miss my Chocolate Nation squad...😭🍫

Maya cocks her head towards the table, and Zay grabs the room key in a clandestine fashion, and we sprint off down the hallway with Maya following, after leaving the receptionist daydreaming about fanfiction.

We slip inside the motel room. The sheets are crumpled up on the bed, and the pillow is still soaked with sadness. The walls are covered in scratches and cracks, and a note lies on the dingy floor.

Please. That's all the note said. A desperate attempt for help.

"It's 7pm we need to go!" Maya urged, but not before letting a torrent of gunk pour out of her mouth in the disgustingly dirty toilet.
---------------------------
"Dang girl. You're not pregnant. No need to eat that fast!" Zay chuckled as Maya devoured the juicy, mouth-watering ribs.

Maya glared at him, while Farkle fiddled with his watch, looking slightly guilty for some strange reason.

The 2nd table on the right was the closest to the bathroom. How strange.

Just as 7:30 came around I heard a scream.

Riley.
