Maya's POV

My ghost
Where'd you go?
I can't find you in the body sleeping next to me
My ghost
Where'd you go?
What happened to the soul that you used to be?
---------------------------------------------------
"RILEY!!!!!!!" I scream, louder than the loudest banshee.

I push myself through the throng of chattering people, and sneak through security.

Where is she?!

S**t, is she even alive?!

"Maya!" Lucas and Zay both yell, but I shrug them off.

"Maya, be careful! Don't fall!" Farkle warns.

I'm confused.

"Crap," I mutter, as I barge into a bush, and tumble to the ground. My stomach is unexpectedly jabbed by an invisible blade and I find myself struggling to stand.

The four boys catch up quickly.

"There's no way Riley survived that fall."
"Stay positive Gardener."
"Lucas..."

Relief flies out of my mouth as I grab the small piece of paper on the ground. The knives continue attacking, but I pretend they're not there.

Why are they there anyway?

"Riley left a message," I manage to say, before I collapse into Charlie's arms.

Pain washes over my body, and my nails tighten their grip on Charlie's arm.

"Maya..." Farkle begins guiltily, before I fade into darkness.
---------------------------------------
Riley's POV

How on earth did I survive?

The view was gorgeous admittedly.

It would've been a nice place to die.

I watch as Maya is gently lifted onto a stretcher, unconscious.

"You'll be alright Peaches," I whisper, before fading away into the shadows.
--------------------------------------------
Maya's POV

"If I'm dead, tell God to give me a 90% discount at the nearest mall."
"I am God, and I'm giving you a free ticket to Charlie's-"
"Shut up Huckleberry."
"Don't you want hear what your prize is?"
"I want to hear if you've fallen down a deep hole."
"Okay, you win."
"Why am I in a hospital?"

I slowly sit up. Charlie is squeezing my left hand gently, and Lucas is on my right. Farkle and Zay are both at the end of the creaky bed.

"Why am I here? What happened?" I ask.

Farkle opens his mouth to speak, but is interrupted by a bald man in a white coat who walks into the room.

"Miss Hart, do you know why you are here?"

I shake my head.

"Did you suffer any sort of injury this evening?"

"I fell down. I don't understand how it became a major problem..."

"The fetus is exceptionally delicate at this time of growth."

"Wait, what?"

"Miss Hart, you were pregnant with triplets, but in your accident earlier this evening, you lost one of your babies."

With that, the doctor walks out of the room.

Farkle and Zay both look guilty, Charlie looks sheepish, and Lucas just looks shocked.

I lost one of my children before I even knew him or her. Before I knew that he or she was there in the first place. I feel tears bubble up in the corners of my eyes, and I wipe them away.

"The test was negative," I manage to say.

"Hey Maya? Do you want to hear a good Farkle story?" Zay chuckles nervously.

"Maya...I switched a fake test with your real one. I didn't want any of us to be loaded with a burden, when we already have poor Riley. I'm sorry," Farkle admits shamefully.

"Why are you telling me now?" I growl.

"Because you NEED to be careful. I don't want you losing another baby."

Luckily, my limbs are working quite well, so I leap out of bed, and bitch slap Farkle.

"Truce?" he offers. I shake his hand gingerly, and go over to the paper in Lucas' hand.

I'm not dead.
What do you do when you're in a hurry?
What's in a basket but not in a musket?
