Chapter Nineteen
Cali
I felt something move beside me and my eyes shot open. The first two things I noticed was that I was not in my room and there was something heavy on my stomach. I looked down to see someone's arm laying across it.
I turned my to the left to meet Jay's sleeping face. After I finished freaking out that I was next to him in bed, I realized we both still had our clothes on from the previous night and I remembered that I asked him to lay next to me. I was so weak last night and I needed to be held.
That had never happened to before though. My mom never made me that weak. Something was going on in my heart and I think I had just wanted Jay to sleep next to me. Oh god. What the hell is happening to me?
My walls are coming down. Shit.
I couldn't help but stare at his face. Everything about it was perfect. He had a small smile on his face, exposing his right dimple. And so, for the first time since meeting him, I allowed myself to admit that Jay Roberts was hot. Extremely attractive, good looking, handsome, how ever you wanted to put it.
Preston told me he didn't have a girlfriend back home and that surprised me. Jay could easily melt a girls heart with just one smile. I hadn't let it at first, but soon it melted mine.
I tried to figure out how to move his arm off my body. I really wanted to avoid the awkwardness that would definitely happen when he woke up. I tried lifting it gently, but nothing worked. I stopped trying and just decided to see what would happen when he woke up.
But then I realized I had to pee. Shit...
"Well this isn't something I wake up to everyday," I heard him whisper. I turned my head to meet his sparkling blue eyes. He looked so cute when he first woke up.
"What?" I asked matching his quiet voice.
"Waking up in my bed next to Cali Olsen."
I rolled my eyes but still laughed a little. "Don't let it go to your head. Now will you get your arm off of me so I can pee?"
He moved his arm and sat up. "Are you okay walking?" He asked. I nodded my head before slowly swinging my legs around the side of the bed. I pushed myself off gently and took a step. It was amazing how much something could improve over night. It almost didn't hurt now, when last night, it had killed.
I went to the bathroom and slowly walked down the stairs to see Jay standing in the kitchen cooking something. Preston was sitting at the table drinking coffee.
"Good morning Cals," Preston said as I entered the room. I gave him a small smile.
"I see you guys had a little sleepover that I wasn't invited to," he said jokingly. I froze when he said that, but his smile told me he was kidding. I sighed as I pulled out the chair next to him.
"I wish there was a girl out here that I could relate to about the annoyance both of you cause me." I said with an attitude. I heard Jay chuckle at that, but he kept his back to me.
"I wish so too. It's not fair that there is only one girl for two boys." I was about to slap him upside the head.
"And this girl isn't for either of you. So you're both out of luck." Preston looked up at me with an evil smile. Ugh. I knew what he was thinking.
"Oh, I don't know about that Cals." That time, I really did punch his arm. He pretended like it hurt, but I felt like I had punched a brick wall or something.
Jay turned around with a huge pan of scrambled eggs and divided them up between three plates. He set one down in front of each of us and we began eating in silence. Preston started talking to Jay about the work they needed to do today. It sounded like a lot and I was glad my only duties were taking care of the housework and the horses. Not that I was allowed to do them now. All I was allowed to do was rest. But I was tired of resting. If that was even possible.
