We came back home and Jaydon still won't talk to me because I did "injustice" to his precious little father. If only he knew that definitely wasn't the case. Jesse left shortly after the incident with my uncle and said he'd call me when he gets home. I still don't know how he is going to get my numbers because he doesn't have them. I'm actually kind of relieved that we are just friends, this way we can get to know one another first. I've had way too much psycho in my life to last me a life time. Plus at school we won't just awkwardly pass one another.

Knock, knock.

You can come in Aunt Claire.

She opens my door and behind her stands uncle Kurt and Jaydon. They're probably going to have an intervention, telling me I'm on drugs again, then I'm shipped off to rehab again. I'll admit the first time I was. I just got involved in the wrong crowd of people when I first found out my mom was sick and the high made me forget about all my problems, but I started becoming abusive and hurting myself. Then one day my mom caught me in my room with the drugs and I was shipped off to rehab first thing. I've been clean ever since and I don't plan on going back there. Oriana went through the whole thing with me and has been there the entire way and has been ever since. Even when I was an outcast at school because everyone thought I was darkness she didn't care, she introduced me to Kyle, Lea and Flora.

Skylar promise me that you'll tell me the truth, no matter what. This is honestly for you own good. Aunt Claire mutters approaching me.

Of course. I smile at them.

See, they totally think I'm on drugs again. They all sat on my bed, except Jaydon. He went and sat by my desk. Probably thinks I'm going to punch him as well. I snicker at my thought. I clear my throat to stop my snickering.

Well at the funeral, after you punched your father-

He's not my father. I say in a very stern voice.

Ok... She clears her throat. After you punched William, when Thomas threatened to hit you again, you said and I quote "I would rather die a thousand deaths, than to live with the man who is the reason my mother is dead." what exactly did you mean by that?

Well you sure have quite a memory hey. I say trying to make a joke, but failed miserably.

Skylar, I'm serious. I can't help you if you don't tell me what's going on. She exclaims.

I sigh.

There is nothing you guys can do now, it's too late. What's done is done. He has won because he walks around acting like a saint when he sure as hell isn't one.

Skylar, just tell us ok and we'll decide if something can be done or not. She says a bit too impatient.

I gulp. Only I know the truth, apart from William and mom. Mother and I never told anyone because we thought it wouldn't make a difference.

Skylar all we want to know is why do you say your fath- uhh I mean William killed your mother? Uncle Kurt says interrupting my thoughts.

Because she's crazy, that's why! You guys saw what she did at the funeral! Jaydon exclaims slamming his fist on the table.

So help me Jaydon, I'll get off this bed and beat you senseless for you to be coming into my room and disrespecting me like that!

See, what I mean! That's it, I'm out of here! He says getting up from my desk.

No Jaydon, sit down. There is something Skylar needs to tell all of us. Something we need to hear. Uncle Kurt says, stopping Jaydon from leaving.

I sigh. I might as well tell them. It's not like it will change anything.

Well... I start looking down and fiddling with my thumbs. When I was in grade 4, William and mom had started fighting a lot more frequently. It was before mother knew she was pregnant with Jaydon.

I stop and take a deep breath.

They had this huge fight and William disappeared for an entire week. Mom was stressing, thinking he had drunk himself senseless, she was trying to hide it from me but I just knew. After the week he came back and they made peace. One day we were given this school project where we had to speak about our parents and what they do for a living and I chose to speak about my dad. I came home and spoke to mother about it and she said she doesn't trust me being alone with William, I just thought she was being jealous. I told William when he got back from work and he seemed a little too excited and said he'd arrange for me to go to work with him the following day, I told him I had school and he said he'd call and explain my absence. The next day comes and I had to go to work with him. Mother seemed very agitated, she gave me a watch and said if I get scared or have a terrible feeling about something I should just press the side button it will alert her and she'll be here right away. I took out the watch she gave me and showed it to everyone in the room. When we got to his work everyone scurried away from us or they'd look at me with pity in their eyes. We went directly to his office and he said he needs to get something ready real quick then I'll have his full attention. He took very long, running around the office trying to make sure something was "perfect". He started talking to himself, shouting and throwing things around and he almost threw me with a glass beaker. I got scared and I remembered what my mom said and I pressed the button. Finally when he had finished he turned and looked at me. He had this crazed look and pulled out a gun and pointed it directly to me.

A gasp escapes aunt Claire's lips.

He then told me that it wouldn't hurt, I'd feel a little pinch then it would be over. It's just a little experiment and it wouldn't hurt me. It's something I can do for my show and tell. Suddenly the door flew open and mom was in the door way shouting at him, telling him that she already refused him using me as his lab rat. He should find someone else and that she's tired of fighting about this with him. It was then I realised all their fights had been about me. William wanted to test his new experiment on me. He kept looking back and forth between my mom and I and he told her she was too late and he fired. I was completely baffled at what was going on that I didn't even try to move. Mom ran over to me and pushed me out of the way and the bullet went into her abdomen and she fell to the ground. William stood there staring at her and did absolutely nothing.
