JAYDON'S POV
That could not have been Skylar. What would William do to her. No I need to stop jumping to conclusions. He said he was just busy with things at the office and someone screamed and he said its just someone lady being dramatic. I'm sure I'm just overthinking it.
No but that really did sound like Skylar. Even the sobs there after.
Before I can think things through I'm on the phone.Hello.
Aunt Claire, is Skylar home yet? The words rush out of my mouth.
No, she hasn't come home yet. She says she's with a friend.
Aunt Claire, I don't know if I'm jumping to conclusions or anything, but I think William has Skylar and he's hurting her.
She gasps.
Where do you get off saying that?
I called William and during our call I heard someone's high pitched scream. I know her scream. I just really have this feeling that it's Skylar.
Oh no, let me call Kurt and we'll figure this out ok. Kurt knows what he's doing. She mumbles. I'm coming to fetch you. I'll be there is 10 minutes.
She hangs up. She believes me, question is how do we find Skylar. I know Uncle Kurt is part of some undercover something, I don't really know, so finding Skylar is like trying to find a pebble amongst a thousand rocks. Where would he take her. I walk through the house trying to find a plan or something that could lead me to her.
I run upstairs to William's room and I am grasp the latch and pull, but it's locked. What could he be hiding for him to lock his door.
I'm starting to think Skylar was right after all. In everything she said. The story, the watch even the tears. She understood the danger I was putting myself in and I literally shoved that back in her face. Like I didn't care.
How could I have been so stupid! All the signs were there. The jumpiness, the late nights out or all the time he spent locked up in his room and when I'd coming in he'd scramble to hide everything, here I thought it's because it was classified work when all it was, was him planning to hurt Skye. My sister! The one who has protected me from so much. Has been there through everything. I threw that back for a chance to have a father! All for what! She was right, he was gone for 8 years what made me think he gives a rats ass about me!Dammit! I punch the wall and hurt my hand in return.
A knock on the door has me jumping. I run to the door.
Jaydon, are you ready? We need to leave now. If you say you've heard what you did, Skylar is in grave danger.
I grab my jacket and we run out in the rain. It's been storming for the past hour. I love the rain on normal days, but today I feel like it's crying out for help. Like Skylar's danger is weighing on it. What if -
Jaydon, did you hear what I said? Aunt Claire asks interrupting my negative thoughts.
No, sorry what was that?
I said are you sure you heard Skylar? She has a panicked tone in her voice.
Aunt Claire I know Skye, I just know. My gut tells me it was her and my gut is always right.
Well was it right about William? Because you pretty much put your sister through hell for that! She snaps.
I wasn't thinking straight ok! I admit my mistake. I know how I treated her was wrong and I couldn't regret it more than I already do. I get that! I shout back in frustration. I get it. I called Dr. Mark this morning and he just confirmed everything Skylar told me, that's why I called William. I wanted to talk to him, to get him to confess. I say relentlessly.
