2 - Meeting Midnight Red

The first thing they did was apologize for being late. Apparently there was "traffic." They were all very attractive but I knew better than to flirt. One of them who looked about to be Asian or Filipino was the first to notice me.

"Why hello there! You are?" he held out his hand.

Before I could say anything Red got in between me and him.

"Fellas this is our new assistant producer Emily. She's off limits. Emily this is one of the artists you will experience working with, Midnight Red. Boys introduce yourself."

"I'm Anthony." he waved.

I waved back feeling super awkward.

"I am Colton."

"Hi my name is Eric."

"The names Joey."

"Thomas."

I just smiled and waved. All these boys were great looking in their own ways but Thomas's eyes really got me. His style was pretty cool too. His hair was messy and perfect all at the same time. What was I thinking?! I can't think of him that way. That'd be the best way to get me fired.

"Okay boys let's get down to it!" Red said.

I was kind of nervous at first because Red said he wanted me to control the mixing board. They all went in the vocal room and killed it! They were really awesome. Honestly I didn't think the mixing board even needed to be touched because they were so good! I did a little just to make it look like I knew what I was doing. Next they did their separate vocal recordings. Thomas was first. Man that boy could sing!

Joey noticed how much I was into it. He laughed. "He's good isn't he?"

I found myself embarrassed because it was so obvious that I really enjoyed his voice.

"Really good." I replied trying to keep my cool.

Once Thomas was done everyone else did their recordings and I was blown away. Why have I never heard of these boys?! They have pure talent.

"That's a wrap boys!" Red yelled.

We all applauded.

"Thank Emily." Red said.

"Thank you." They all said at once and left the room laughing.

Just when I was about to leave Red stopped me.

"Can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Why yes of course."

He sat me down.

"You seem like you really know what you're doing and I would love to see you here again while they rehearse because I always need a second opinion about these guys. But only if you're up for it. I honestly think these guys can be big one day and I'm going to need as much help as I can get."

"I'm up for anything Red just tell me and trust me I'll be here."

"Great to have you aboard Emily!" We shook hands once again and I exited the control room.

On the way out the girl that was sitting at the desk was talking to Thomas. They seemed to be talking then stopped as I walked in. Were they talking about me?

"How was your first day?" the girl asked.

"It was great. Thanks for asking." I felt so awkward and tried exiting the building as fast as I could. Thomas opened the door for me.

"Thanks." I said as I walked out.

"No problem." I heard him mumble.

I hopped into my car and headed straight back to my crummy apartment. I have a feeling I'm gonna love this job.
