I woke up, my back absolutely aching from sleeping on the stupid couch. I stretched before making my way into the kitchen expecting Julie to be cooking. She wasn't there. Everything seemed in place. Nothing was touched. I sighed then went upstairs. It took forever to build the courage to knock on her door but I did. I prepared myself to see her at her worst.
She opened the door slowly. She looked at me, her eyes were red from all the crying she did. Before she could say anything I hugged her. I didn't like to smother people but I felt like she needed it. When I did I could feel how broken she was. She started sniffling.
"Don't cry please." I told her. "You're gonna make me cry, and trust me I look horrible when I do."
She giggled. We pulled away from each other. I pushed her hair out of her face.
"Are you okay?"
"I guess so. It just sucks." She crossed her arms and shrugged. "She was more like my best friend than my grandma. I never really had friends."
"Not invisible." I pointed to myself.
She smiled.
She hugged me again but this time it was a happier one. "Thanks for everything Em."
"No problem. Do you want to talk at all?"
"No I'm fine. I've done enough talking with my uncle." We parted from each other.
"How's he taking it?"
"The strongest out of all of us. He said that maybe next week he'll come back to work."
"Oh goody!" I said sarcastically. "Hey aren't you supposed to be going out with Anthony today? Have you cancelled on him yet?"
"Cancel? Ha. Ha. You make me laugh. Of course not. I'll be fine don't worry."
"That's the Julie I know."
"Hungry?"
I nodded my head.
She laughed and started walking downstairs. "I was just thinking soon you and I could double date."
"You're crazy."

I helped Julie get ready for her date. She wore a cute black dress with some black heels. I was responsible for her hair. Instead of doing the overrated curly and straight hair, I put her hair into a fishtail braid.
"Stunning." I told her.
"Thanks for helping me out."
We were sitting on the couch waiting for Anthony to come.
"No problem."
I noticed her tapping her foot.
"Nervous much?" I asked.
"A little. I never thought that he'd ever ask me out."
"You'll be fine. By the way I hope you don't mind me inviting Thomas over when you guys leave."
"No of course not. What you guys gonna do?" She raised her eyebrow.
"Ew. I was planning on having a movie marathon with him."
The door bell rang.
"Don't have too much fun." I winked at her.
I eavesdropped as she opened the door.
"Hey redhead. You look great. These are for you."
"Flowers? Thanks so much Anthony. Let me set these in the kitchen before we go."
