Artemis sat on an empty compartment in the Hogwarts Express, which he knew for a fact that the Golden Trio were going to enter. He had planned accordingly.

He absently stroked Athena, his pet phoenix and familiar. She had been named after the Greek Goddess of wisdom and warfare, which had so far proven a very apt name indeed.

'Are you sure you want me to leave Artemis,' she trilled.

Artemis nodded, once. Then the phoenix burst into flames, leaving no evidence of her presence. Artemis for his part, took out his laptop and checked the progress of his Ice Cube, which he had finally managed to rebuild.

Right  on cue, the train began to move, and exactly as he had predicted, the compartment door slid open...

Harry Potter slid open the compartment door, not realizing that his future was going to be rewritten.

Hermione seemed to have recognized the person that was in the compartment. Harry had to admit that he did indeed look familiar; he had a vague impression of seeing him on the news. He had to hold back his laughter at seeing Hermione's face. She actually looked like she was swooning.

So, he opened the door.

'You're Artemis Fowl,' she exclaimed, and Harry remembered the first time she had met him, and her apparent excitement. Harry had to pity this Fowl boy.

Although pity was the last word in his mind as he saw Fowl, he looked like a high class pure-blood in his demeanor, but the laptop in his lap made him think otherwise. After all, no pure-bloodwizard would use a laptop, however useful they would be.

'Of course.' replied Artemis, smiling. Harry shuddered. Although the smile was friendly, it made the double impression of friendliness and hostility. A strange combination.

'You're the head of the Fowl Industries? Did you really discover the Eternity code?' she asked excitedly.

'Yes and yes.' replied Artemis, though he seemed to be absorbed in his computer.

Hermione, noting his preoccupation, began to tell Harry all she knew about Artemis Fowl.

It was interesting to say the least.

Harry looked over at him. If his expression wasn't so blank, and his face absorbed in his laptop, you would swear he was laughing.
