The Goblet of Fire

Artemis had thought that he was dramatic. But that was nothing compared to Albus Dumbledore, who had decided to hold the Champion selection on Halloween.

Across the Slytherin table, Viktor Krum grinned at him. Artemis smirked back, despite how irritated he was at Krum's fawning. He was used to make people feel very insane as time passed of course, but it was apparently illegal when you became a good guy, as Holly had told him. He was pretty sure that it wasn't true, but he wasn't taking any chances. Especially since he wasn't a 'good guy' in the sense that he still did illegal acts. (Like hacking into very secure computers (mainly Foaly's)  when he was bored, and thieving, of course. It was in his genes. He couldn't get rid of them even if he wanted to, which he didn't.)

Just then, the goblet lit up. 'The goblet of fire is ready to make its decision,' said Albus. A flame shot out of the goblet, and he read aloud, 'The champion for Beauxbatons is –'

'Fleur Delacour!' they started clapping, while some other Beuxbatons girls started crying. Fleur gave a regal wave and looked up at Albus. He nodded at her. 'You may go to that room.' He pointed to a opened near the staff table. Fleur nodded and strode off, ignoring the crying girls.

Another flame shot out. 'The champion for Durmstrangs is-'

'Viktor Krum!' Krum got up and went to the room amid clapping, (mainly from the girls).

There was tension in the air. This was the moment they have all been waiting for. The champion for Hogwarts. The Goblet of fire lit up and shot out one single slip of paper. The Great Hall held its breath.

'The champion for Hogwarts is,' Albus said clearly, 'Is Artemis Fowl the second!'

Everyone seemed silent. A Slytherin champion was unheard of. This Slytherin being chosen was a different matter entirely. Most of the people had heard the conversation he had had with Harry, Ron and Hermione and he hoped that most of Hogwarts will be able to support him. He knew that the Slytherin were with him, at least.

The stifling silence was broken by Celia, who stood up and began to clap, Draco only a nanosecond behind her. Soon enough the whole of the Slytherin house had stood up and began to clap. Even the Ravenclaw house joined them, which Artemis wasn't expecting though he should have expected it, though he should have, since Ravenclaw was with Slytherin when Hufflepuff was with Gryffindor.

He strode towards the Staff table, going through the Hufflepuff and Gryffindor table, where he was pleasantly surprised when some people began to clap for him.

But before the door closed behind him, he heard Albus say the name of another champion that completely ruined his plans. Opal had made herself unpredictable, which made her more dangerous than ever. Now Artemis felt as if he was the prey being stalked, while Opal became the predator; which he detested being. Now, for the first time in a long time, Artemis Fowl didn't have a plan.

'Harry Potter.' Was the name Albus had said.

Outside, Moody, or Barty Crouch Jr who had excused himself, chuckled and said into his mouthpiece which Opal had provided, 'Mission Completed, My Lord and Princess Opal.'

Four Hundred miles back, Voldemort and Opal erupted into startling and maniacal laughter, united in one common purpose; destroying Artemis Fowl.
