Chapter 20

~7 month jump~

Liz's baby bump is now huge and Kalel had her 8th birthday. We weren't able to get much but we found some toys hanging around and let her choose the meals for the day.

"I only want Soul and Maka to get along together again." She had mumbled under her breath when she asked if she had anything in specific for her birthday.

We managed to get along for a few hours, though I always left the room when he entered whenever it was possible.

"Stop avoiding me. I need to talk to you." Soul whispered harshly.

"What do you want Soul?" I snapped quietly.

"As you know Liz is going to have our baby soon, I wanted to ask you if you would be it's god mother..." he went on slowly

"Why me? We're not on the best of terms, it doesn't make sense. Why not Patty or Tsubaki?" I asked skeptical

"I know you take good care of Kalel, and if anything ever happened to me and Liz, I want that for my child." He explained

"Alright, I'll be the god mother." Is that it?"

"When it grows up, I'd like it to not have to deal with the drama that's going on between us." He admits.

"Soul, do you not realize what you did to me? You betrayed me, broke my heart, you hurt me. You're lucky I'm staying around." I sighed, getting tired of repeating myself.

"I know that, but I need you to forgive me!" he whined

"Soul, stop. I can't handle this right now. Please just leave me alone; right now I can't handle this. Let me think of everything." I begged "I agreed to be the god mother of your kid; why are demanding more?" I started to feel tears well up in my eyes.

"I'm sorry Maka..." He replied, sounded defeated

"Go celebrate with Kalel. You've been worrying about Liz this whole time. It's Kalel's fucking birthday, if you want to help take care of her, act like it. It's not always about your pregnant fuck buddy." I snapped

"I know that Maka, do you actually think I want it to be like this? I fucked up whatever we had, I brought a poor baby in this fucked up world! I fucked up Maka. I don't know what to do other than say I'm sorry." He started to cry; I've only seen Soul cry twice, when he thought I had been killed in the Battle of the Kishin and when I left for college, with no planning on coming back and being his meister. "I still love you." He whimpered

I was taken aback for a moment, not expecting that and blushed, "E-Even so, you being sorry doesn't fix what you did." I stuttered before walking out of the room into the living room.

"When do you think the baby will come?" Kalel asked while doing Fire's hair, who I was watching for Black Star and Tsubaki.

"I hope soon, I want to see her!" Fire enthused

"Her? You think it's a girl?" I asked chuckling

"Well I hope it's a boy!" Kalel admitted "Liz said if it's a girl her name is Amelia, but if it's a boy it's Felix or Nathan."

"Are you going to babysit when we need you too?" I asked, starting to fold the semi-dry laundry.

"Yeah! Though I don't want to change his diaper." Kalel crinkled her nose.

"I'll change her diaper if you'll feed her." Fire giggled

"Deal!" Kalel yelled'

"Hey, it's almost time for dinner. Please clean up while I start dinner." I told them, they quickly started to put the toys and hair things in the boxes.
