Nate's POV
"Whoops." Jade light tapped a button and the water poured on Nanette. Jade knew Nanette keeps the necklace on when I'm not around. A tail grew on Nanette, but instead of the purple one I've seen before, it was blood red. Jade then went in the cage and placed a towel just out of reach. What is she planning? Is all I thought. Nanette then woke up, but little did I know, things were about to get intense.

Nate's POV

Nanette woke up after a while and started to panic.

"Good Nanette you're awake. Now time to start our little game." Jade laughed.

"What game?" I growled at Jade.

"Oh it's a simple task really. Nanette must get the towel on her lap within 5 minutes or else you, Nate, die right before her very eyes." She had an evil grin plastered on her face.

"Why? W-W-Why a-are you d-d-d-doing this to us?" Nanette stuttered in between tears. It pained me to see her like this.

Nanette's POV

I saw the pained look in Nate's eyes. A rope suddenly came out of nowhere and loosely wrapped around Nate's neck.

"Every minute you spend without the towel on your lap, the rope will rise and tighten around Nate's neck." The black haired girl said.

"You can't do this to us Jade!!!" Nate screamed.

So her name is Jade huh? I thought to myself.

"The timer is ticking down Nanette. Tick tock tick tock." Jade laughed. I didn't have much control over my tail. I tried grabbing the towel but I couldn't. Four minutes later and Nate was practically hanging as tears ran down his and my cheeks. I finally got it on my tail and threw it in the air.

"3...2...1" Jade said as the towel fell on my lap at the last second. Nate was then released from the rope around his neck and I was released from the rope around my hands. I then started to wipe myself off with the towel and my tail disappeared. The gate between Nate and I disappeared. We hugged each other so tight that I never wanted to let go. He probably didn't want to either.

"I love you." He whispered in my ear as we hugged.

"I love you too." I was hesitant at first but I said it. Once we got out of the cage, Jade started running towards the ocean. She dove in and turned into a mermaid. I knew exactly what to do. I ripped the charm off my neck and stepped on it, releasing a beautiful woman. Her long, curly, golden hair fell down her back. She had a purple dress on. She uttered two words that stuck in my heart,
"Thank you."
She then ran into the water and she to turned into a mermaid and was chasing after Jade. They both disappeared. I never knew what happened to Jade but we never saw her again.
