So there's tumblr, yea.

Then tumblr spilled over into Instagram. As in, people now colour scheme their pictures and use the white borders and bullshit like that

This resulted in the word tumblr becoming an adjective. As in, your pic is so tumblr.

Now, this spillover effect is on Wattpad.

EVERYONE'S BOOK COVER IS SO FUCKING TUMBLR RIGHT NOW I CANT EVEN

And I don't even mean that in a good way lol.

Like bruh, just get the fuck outta here, what you doing tryna make your cover seem so peaceful or whatever

To prove my point I've basically just designed a tumblr cover for this book, comment here if I killed it (course I did, I don't need your validation Jks)

I guess the reason it pisses me off is that everyone's losing their individuality again. Seriously. Why have we decided your book covers should appear a certain way just so it can be cool?

I don't know if y'all are catching my drift here, but just look around. How do I explain this...

If you scroll through your recommendations or just look around for Wattpad books with one or all of the following features, you have found a tumblr cover:

- the title font is a lite version of the boring fonts you're supposed use for school assignments i.e. arial lite, segoe lite, verdana...and TIMES NEW ROMAN lol

(You're probably going to open a word document to look these up lol)

- but there's probably also cursive font in there I mean how artistic waow

- the filters used are serene. As in, they're bluish, somewhat fading out to white to make it seem deep

- or, the background is white. Just white.

- with one image that's apparently supposed to relate to something in the book. Usually an accessory, like earphones or shoes

- if the background is white, be sure the item/accessory thing will be tiny and the title will be tiny too. All in the center of the cover of course, because symmetry is so tumblr these days

- the first letters of the titles are now in lowercase.

- the title is usually two words to optimize tumblr effect.

(Holla at me if you can read the small-ass font in my tumblr title in the pic and therefore get the joke)

- these two words have to be aligned;

- even if it means putting ten spaces between each of the letters

- if the cover is not an accessory of some sort, it is a female or male with their back to the camera,

- who is obviously wearing tumblr clothes (like best believe they're wearing a loose grey shirt)

- but it's never the whole body, it's just from face to waist (never the face alone)

- if it's not them facing away from the camera, it's their front, but their hair is always ruffled...or should I say disheveled

- such that it's falling into their face which is apparently sexy

- the covers have as little as possible. As in, they're simple as hell

- because that's so tumblr.

And I'll admit that yea, it looks cool sometimes, but it gets boring after a while. Like seriously, creativity - have you heard of it?

Thing is, some authors have tumblr covers that have nothing to do with the book itself. Like bitch you got a tumblr cover and your book is a fun facts book lololololol you tryna tell me that telling us the distance between the sun and earth is deep
