I blinked my eyes at Jayden, "What are you doing here?" I asked shocked
He shuffled his feet around and looked down not knowing what to say. Layla start squirming in my arms pulling my hair and trying to chew on it. "Layla no," I said sternly looking her in the eyes. She rubbed her face in my arm something she does every time I get onto her.
"She looks just like you," Jayden comment looking at Layla's bright blue eyes.
"No she's way prettier, ain't you pretty girl, yes, yes," I said bouncing her in my arms as she giggles. I smiled brightly and looked back up at Jayden. "What are you doing here?"
"I felt bad for making Clint go talk to you so I decided to come see you myself. When did you have her?" He asked glancing at Layla. His eye were tight and I noticed his body was stiff.
"Excuse me? She's my sister!" I screeched. I grabbed the door about to slam it in his face, but he stuck his foot in the way blocking it.
"I didn't know! I'm sorry okay! I just assumed..." He trailed off looking anywhere, but me.
"Next time instead if assuming why don't you ask. Obviously I didn't have her she's only five months old. I was in school then was I not?"
He stood there thinking about it and looked even more guilty. Good, I thought, he insulted me by practically called me a slut.
"For your information I'm a virgin so I couldn't have a baby anyway," I said staring him down. I don't honestly know why I said that. I didn't care what he thought of me. I didn't care if he thought I was a whore or that Layla was my baby, but deep down for some unknown reason I knew I did care.
"Can I come in and us talk about it?" He asked looking me in the eyes. He's face looked so pitiful and I knew that's probably how he got all the girls.
"If you quit with the constipated look, yes," he looked surprised by my words and I could tell he wasn't going to get use to me soon.
Not that he needed to he wouldn't be around me long, I thought stepping back to let him in the house. He followed me into the kitchen and sat at one of the bar stools. I put Layla in her highchair and she stared at Jayden.
She isn't around boys much and every time she is she's captivated by them. I think it was the hair honestly, she loves hair and boys was something totally new to her. My father was bald, thinking about that made me chuckle slightly.
I looked over at Jayden again and saw Layla had ahold of his hair and he looked like he was in pain. I laughed at him and saw a grin grace his face. He looked so adorable with my little sister.
"I'm sorry, she has this crazy obsession with hair," I said giggling at his face. I stopped in my tracks, did I giggle? Me? I never giggle, what the hell!
I shook my head and went to the fridge getting Layla a bottle and heating it up. "So what do you want to talk about?" I asked with my back turned to him.
I felt warm breath blow against my neck and I turned around sharply stepping back until my back was against the counter.
"I wanted to talk about what happened today. You know, you seem totally different at home then you do at school. You drive everyone away not many people lik..." He drifted off looking guilty.
"Not many people like me, yes I know. I want everyone to know I don't care what people think. I really don't care wether you like me after this conversation or not doesn't matter to me. Nothing matters to me, but college and my sister."
Layla's milk dinged and I grabbed it walking over to her, testing it, then handed it to her as she guided it towards her mouth, sorta she missed.
I picked her up and cradled her as I put the bottle in her mouth.
"It's time for you to leave Jayden," I said without looking at him.
"Fair enough," he glanced at me once more and sighed "you look beautiful with that baby," with that he walked out the door without glancing back.
I felt my cheeks redden for the first time in years. I looked at Layla's dazzling blue eyes and smiled. "Your big sis is in a big trouble babe," I said as I finished feeding her.
If only I knew.
