Chapter 34:

Melody's P.O.V.

"Sylvester my dear, does it really have to happen right now?" Victoria looked at Sylvester with pleading eyes and a frowning mouth, I knew she wouldn't admit it but she was on my side, she knew what I was going through.

"Yeah! It's not like I'm dying or anything!" I backed Victoria up, almost beginning to feel annoyed at this one sided situation. Didn't anyone have a sense of mercy around here!?

Of course I knew life as a vampire could be a lot better than life as a human but there were so many things I'd miss as a vampire; like being out in the sunrise and sunsets or being able to actually get a tan.

"Do you really want to take that risk?" Sylvester asked in a tone that told me he was wondering if anyone was bold enough to disagree with him.

I wasn't in any immediate danger, this whole 'Lets turn Melody into a vampire!' thing was completely unnecessary. Victoria and Angel agreed with me, I knew that for a fact, but Angel was keeping his mouth shut and Victoria was having a hard time arguing against Sylvester, Raven and Gray by herself. Dawn and Yukio didn't voice their opinions.

So I decided to drag Angel into the conversation.

"Angel! You agree with me right?" I looked to him with my last thread of hope hanging on his answer.

"No." Angel replied flatly and nonchalantly.

Annnnd just like that my thread of hope snapped. I let out a sigh but I wasn't totally defeated inside.

"You mean you want me to...?"

"I don't care, its really none of my business." Angel spoke sharply and looked away from me completely.

Shocking. It was like Angel suddenly put up iron walls around himself again.

"Dawn? ...Yukio?" I addressed the two of them hoping for a little back up, although I didn't get my hopes up.

Dawn looked away from me, pursing her lips and saying nothing at all but looking deeply consumed in thought. I suppose I had to respect the fact that she was being neutral in this, whether I lived or died had no effect on her whatsoever. Yukio held eye contact with me, glanced quickly at Raven and looked back to me, he was frowning.

"It's really not for me to say Melody..."

I swept my tongue over my upper lip and glanced at Raven, he was watching me with an almost apologetic look on his face. I clenched my teeth as I looked from vampire to vampire until I got to Sylvester, who I let my eyes linger on. Sylvester sighed and folded his arms firmly over his chest,

"This is as much of Raven's decision as it is mine."

My eyes snapped back to Raven, who was staring at me with hollow eyes, it felt as though he were staring through my skin and into my soul. It made me uneasy.

"Melody, there are rules you're gonna need to be clear on. So when you're ready to hear them come find me in my room." His words were spoken softly but I knew he serious. Raven turned to leave but he stopped mid-turn, "Oh, and if you try to leave... I will catch you." And with those words Raven disappeared completely from my sight.
