Chapter 5:
Melody's P.O.V.
Somewhere along the line I had realised that I wasn't just dreaming, I was living it. I was now sat on a silky, crimson chair that was placed beside a big window with a view of the area surrounding the mansion. I could see a huge forest stretching across the land and a peaceful looking lake. The sun was setting too, giving the atmosphere a fairytale feel. Except this wasn't a fairytale, it was a nightmare with too many opportunities to die. I felt like a seal swimming in a dangerous sea. At any moment a shark could come up behind me and that would be it, I'd stand no chance. I didn't even know why I was considering staying with blood sucking monsters. They aren't supposed to exist.
I thought about my massacred village and all the people I would never see again as I gazed at the lavender and salmon coloured clouds. My parents are missing, dead for all I knew. I wrapped my arms around myself as tears blurred my vision and my heart ached. I didn't have anyone left, except for a murdering brother. I wanted my mother to be here to hug me and tell me that everything would be okay and that eventually it will all go back to normal.
I got up and walked over to the full length mirror that hung on one of the walls. I was still me, I still had my wide grey/blue eyes, my passed shoulder length light brown hair and my pale skin. My tallness was also something I had been proud of before but I was shorter than the monsters here. I felt so small and insignificant.
"Nice view isn't it?"
I froze, shocked. Raven stood beside the chair I had been sitting on and was gazing out the window. I swear he wasn't there a minute ago.
"Yeah." Thankfully my voice came out strong instead of weak and shaky. I wiped my eyes with the sleeve of my hoodie.
"Do you... eat?" I couldn't help but feel caustious around him.
"Hm? Well what do you mean because I-"
"Food." I cut him off, not wanting him to finish that sentence. He thought for a moment.
"Well I don't get hungry, more like slightly peckish. So to answer your question; yes I eat food, but very little."
"How often do you... Uhm.." I struggled for a word "Eh..."
"At least once a week. Usually our group goes together but on the night that your village was wiped out I stayed home instead." He explained.
"Oh..." Was all I could manage to get out.
There was an awkward silence but not for too long as footsteps began to echo through the hall.
"Matthew, what is it?" Raven called out into the empty hall, and just then the light haired Matt stood before both of us.
"The party has arrived."
Ravens eyes widened, "Shit. I forgot all about that!" He began to hurry away.
"How unprofessional... Hey! What about Melody?" Matt asked puzzled.
"Don't worry, she'll be fine. I've got everything under control." Raven called back to us.
"Alright well, right this way madam." Matt began to walk in the opposite direction to Raven and I followed like a lost puppy. The hall seemed endless and we walked among the royal blue painted walls for a few minutes. Matt stopped suddenly, causing me to crash into his back.
"S-sorry!" I stuttered, embarrassed.
"It's okay." he smiled widely and I smiled back shyly.
He opened the wide white door and flicked on the lights before stepping inside.
