Chapter 26:

Matthew's P.O.V.

"For love of course, why else? I've had my eye on her ever since the day we kissed." Raven smirked confidently.

How dare you.

My hard stare met with Ryan's and his thoughts immediately became my own, like a door had been unlocked. A detailed memory of a passionate kiss shared between Ryan and Melody played in my mind and a vague smile formed on Ryan's face.

"Well there's a dilemma, considering Ryan kissed her too." I sighed.

Ryan's face fell at hearing this.

I expected uproar from Raven but instead I received a simple; "So did Angel." My eyebrows raised, Melody certainly seemed to get around with the boys.

"But we know how that ended." Raven continued, no emotion to his voice.

Ryan's eyes narrowed as he stared at the back of his brother's head.

"I had him killed." Raven concluded, a small smile settled across his face, like he was proud.

I didn't believe it though. I wouldn't believe it until I saw it.

In what was probably a millisecond Raven had his hands on both sides of Ryan's head and he twisted it quickly causing Ryan's neck to snap. It stunned him, but didn't kill him. One of the human men whipped out a long shining silver piece of metal and I knew what was coming, and there was not much I could do to help.
Risking my life for Ryan's would not help keep Melody safe.
The stake stabbed straight through Ryan's stomach and out the other side. My throat dried up and my tongue felt like sandpaper in my mouth. I could onlyimagine how much that must have been hurting.

Raven released his hold on Ryan's head and his body crumpled to the floor.

"Get out of here Matthew, go back to where you came from." Raven said harshly.

"What happened to you." I said it more like a statement than a question.

"Life happened to me. And not life like you ever experienced. It isn't all fun and games anymore, especially wh-" He cut himself off. "N- Nevermind, you have heard enough."

What was he hiding? He continued to avoid eye contact as he gazed down at Ryan with a hint of sadness haunting his darkened amber eyes.

Gray's P.O.V.

"Where are we going" Melody asked for what seemed like the tenth time.

"I thought I told you already not to ask me, I don't know." I sighed.

We were about 100 meters outside the perimeter, not too far out, waiting for any possible sign of Matthew.

"We're waiting for Matt right?" She asked, lowering her voice.

I looked her in the eyes and found fear and curiosity hidden in them. What happened out there when he found her?

"Yeah, its okay though. He won't-"

"Don't tell me what he will and won't do. He's just as bad as Raven. They sicken me." Her voice was harsh.

"You don't trust him then?" I was a bit shocked by her snappy remark.

"No. Not after what he did."

"I'm sure he had a good enough reason to do what he did..."

"Not good enough, and don't go taking his side." She said stubbornly.
