Chapter 22:
Melody's P.O.V.
"Good morning Melody." A cheerful silky voice penetrated my mind.
I stirred and opened my eyes, blinking furiously as I was almost blinded by the glittering sunlight and sat up.
"Oh sorry."
Darkness engulfed the room.
My eyes adjusted to the darkness and landed on the faint outline of Angel. I frowned as the vague memories of the night before hit me like a slap in the face. The cut, the kiss, his freezing cold skin against mine... And that's where my memory stopped. I gripped the bed sheets, the bed was not my own.
"You fell asleep..." Angel spoke up.
"What happened...? I don't...don't remember. Why don't I...remember?" I sounded like my soul had been dragged out of me, that or I had a really bad nights sleep.
"Hand on my heart, we kissed." He hesitated and looked down at the floor, his hair falling over his eyes. "We went to the bed, you lay down and instantly fell asleep, honest." His quiet voice failed to hide his embarrassment, he put his hand over where his heart should be in his chest.
"I-"
A brief knock on the door broke me mid sentence. We froze. Angel's head shot up and his eyes slowly drifted from me to the door. He put a finger to his lips as he hesitantly strolled towards the door. He yanked it open. None other than Raven stood there, hair messy, shirt creased, a tie hanging around his neck, wide eyes set ablaze.
He noticed me quickly and pushed passed Angel. I patted down the hair on the back of my head and fluttered my eyelashes at him to try look as innocent as possible. Ever so slightly did his eyes narrow, ever so slightly did his fists clench and knuckles whiten, ever so slightly did he turn his face to Angel and ever so slightly did his eyes deepen with crimson. The door creaked open a little more and Ashley stood at the door frame.
I felt a hand on my shoulder but within a second my back was pressed tight against Raven's chest, his hand smothering my mouth and his arms were around me at the waist, constricting me to him as he lifted me up. Ashley pounced on unsuspecting Angel who took a punch to the jaw with a glimmering object. A sharp glimmering object.
Angel hissed, clutching his face and staggered back slightly. I pulled Raven's fingers away from my mouth. "Angel! Run, you can go without me, get Gray!" I shrieked.
"Self sacrifice, oh how romantic. Last nights two love birds separated. Cry me a river." Raven sounded extremely pissed off I struggled against Raven's un-tightening grip but to no avail.
We were out of the room, down the flight of stairs and out the door in a few seconds. He put me down, still with a grip on my arm, like we were handcuffed together. I pulled away from him - or attempted to. The sharp stones and gravel dug and cut into my bare feet.
"Try all you might. Holding onto you is like holding onto a pencil." He grunted as he poked through his pockets for keys.
He dragged me with little effort to the back of his blue Mini Cooper. He unlocked the trunk of the car with just a click of the button on the keys."No. Nonononononono." I cried, tears filling my eyes.
He ignored me and flung me into the trunk causing me to bash the side of my head and my ears to pop when he slammed the trunk shut. I scrambled up and organised my limbs into a semi comfortable position in the cramped trunk. I banged my palms against the glass and watched the front door to the house, desperate to see Angel's figure once more, just to know that he was safe. I didn't care what happened to me at this stage. The driver's door opened and Raven sat down, quickly closing the door and revving up the car, not bothering with seat belts of course. The tires screeched and the car set off at full speed down the driveway, out a huge set of iron gates and began following an unworn path through the thick forest.
I rested my forehead against the cool glass and closed my eyes as I jolted with the car. Curse Raven's reckless driving and the uneven landscape. I sighed out a shaky and seemingly never ending sigh. I was scared. This wasn't the Raven I knew, that wasn't the Ashley I knew. Just what the hell was going on?
A shock spread throughout my body and I lurched up, smacking my head hard off the glass. My heart was thumping and I was out of breath. I must have fallen asleep.
"Careful..." Raven muttered.
"As if you care." I whispered, knowing he could hear me perfectly anyway.
"Has being a blood donor ever crossed your mind?"
"I've been a forced blood donor before, I don't quite fancy the idea." I huffed.
"I remember." He said grimly. "But. What if it wasn't forced?"
I frowned. "Why wouldn't it...?"
"Well... You know how vampires work."
"I do...?" I was confused by what he meant.
"Blood triggers... desire." He explained.
My mind wandered back to last night, it made sense.
"Oh..." I said slowly.
"For the donor and the drinker." He included.
"I see." I wasn't impressed.
"Interested?"
"Not particularly, being a blood whore was never really on my careers list I hate to admit."
He chuckled. "I'll have to see if any of the boys can change your mind." His voice went low and seductive.
"'The boys' being a group of sex craving vampires I'm guessing."
"Not as such. I'll let you find out for yourself."
"Oh joy." I covered my face with my hands.
The car slowed to a halt. I hadn't even realised we had been so close to a building.
"Enjoy your stay." Raven got out of the car, I removed my hands from my face to be met by a large stone building, surrounded by tall stone walls, what could possibly be an electric gate and a few guard post.
Well there goes all hope and future plans of escaping. He opened the trunk and helped me out, being a lot more friendly than he had previously been.
I curled my feet into the hard cold ground. It would probably be the last time in a while I could do so.
