Chapter 8:
Melody's P.O.V
He grabbed me, pulling my fragile form to him in a desperate embrace. I closed my eyes tightly as he crushed me with his hug. At first I panicked, the hug was rough and it hurt but a comforting sense of relief washed over me when I realised he wasn't going to harm me and that everything was okay. I was safe now. I inhaled his familiar scent, minty and soothing, like one of the red and white candy canes you'd get at Christmas.
"I'm sorry." He apologized, sobbing into my shoulder, his voice sounding hoarse, raspy and quiet.
I didn't reply to him for the simple reason that I didn't want to evoke the haunting memories that lay just beneath the protective layer in my mind, waiting to be triggered and set off.
"One day," He growled "I'll hunt him down and I'll rip that mother fucker a ne-"
"Gray. Please stop." I requested sternly, still forcing the memories from my mind.
He exhaled a sigh and let go of me, gently placing me back onto the pillows and stroking my hair softly. "You've been out cold for 2 weeks now... I bet you'd be able to walk, although that's probably not the best idea."
I was surprised and I'm sure the surprise projected onto my face as well as my voice. "Only two weeks!?""You seem to forget. We're not human, our medicines, treatments and cures are much stronger. Especially when you use vampire blood in them." He rambled.
I gagged "Vampire Blood!?"
He had a solemn expression on his face "Mel, you were going to die. We had to use it, it was your only chance and it healed you faster than anything else ever could. You would probably be in a coma, never to wake up if we had brought you to a human hospital. T'was my blood, we share mostly the same blood anyway so it shouldn't really be a big deal."
I still scowled, and my stomach flipped a few times at the thought of drinking anyones blood. The fact that it was the blood of my twin brother was even worse.
The door burst open and Raven, wearing a tired, stressed expression entered the room.
"You." He glared at Gray, "Are going out with Angel. No resisting. Be ready to leave in 5 seconds." He commanded.
He waited a few seconds and glanced at his wrist, as though he were checking the time although he wasn't actually wearing a watch.
"Oh! Look at the time, you better get going. Don't want to be late now do we?"
Gray remained by my bedside and glared bitterly at Raven.
"My orders. Leave. Now." Raven said the last word aggressively.
It was the first time I had ever seen him show any form of authority to anyone. Gray marched himself out of the room without a word, aggressively slamming the door behind him. Raven studied the view out the window awkwardly and he rubbed his jaw bone.
"Sorry... for being a jerk that night. If I had have kept my big mouth shut none of this would have happened." He confessed, still staring out the window.
I took a deep breath "It's nobodies fault. It was obviously something that... was destined to happen. And besides, now that I know the dangers, I'll be a lot more careful." I explained truthfully.
He frowned "I'll go get your clothes."
He left for a few minutes, giving me time to test out moving my legs and amazingly they felt strong and firm although I wasn't sure if they were walking material yet. Raven returned with a white fitted dress that had transparent sequences around the chest and neck, red ankle high converse and net tights. I raised an eyebrow at the sight of the dress.
