Chapter 24:

"Havoc's" P.O.V.

I stepped down out of my capsule, my body dripping with boiling hot water, I gripped the side of a desk as I steadied myself. The old man chuckled.

"Here put these on." He flung a pair of regular black jeans my way.

My hand automatically reached out and grabbed them. I stepped into them, they stuck uncomfortably to my wet skin.

"I- Where am I?" I moved my hair out of my eyes. "What am I?" I peered around at my back to find a pair of jet black wings.

They looked pretty angelic, besides from the darkness that was practically glowing from them.

"Crow wings..?" I raised an eyebrow at the old man.

"No, no, no." He murmured something under his breath. "Raven wings."

My body jolted suddenly. "No- I- I'm calling them crow wings. Same difference." I shuddered.

"You do that..." He chuckled.

"Answer my question!" I shouted.

"What..? Oh! Y-you're at my lab. You're Havoc. The Ultimate Being."

"What!?"  I banged my fist against the capsule, it shook and a crack formed.

He raised his hands defensively. "Hey, stop that. Expensive equipment."

He held up a full body mirror to me. I narrowed my eyes at it.

My former self was gone.

My mind was thinking differently.

My body looked different.

Shit, if I thought I was a monster before, than what am I now? But I couldn't help but smirk at my own reflection.

Rich dark, earthy brown hair had grown to my collar bone. My skin was a lot more tan. That I was certain of.
There was more muscle now too, a more defined six pack, arm muscles along with a v cut.

Yellow eyes were something I'd have to get used to though. The upside down triangle in the circle tattoo was also new. Then again, it wasn't even a tattoo.
It was a marking. A marking of power, a new beginning to a life that never had a chance anyway. With these powers, the overwhelming strength I had th-

"Havoc, child. Come. I need to teach you-" Old man interrupted my thoughts.

I pushed the mirror out of my way, sending it flying across the lab. I glared at the old man as he stared back, only beginning to look slightly pissed off.

"My name... Is not Havoc. And I am not a child, you know that. I am older and greater than you could ever become. Do not forget it." I hissed.

His upper arm flexed, I thought he was going to hit me, but remained by his side.

"I am sorry Hav- I-I'm sorry but... what was your name again?" He asked, fear thick in his voice.

"Matthew... And don't ever forget it." I sighed.

The sound of my own name put a heavy load on my chest once more. Havoc, whatever it was- whatever I had become, may have messed around with my body and thoughts, but it could never erase my memories like I had hoped.

She was still in clear view in my mind, I could remember every detail about her. Her voice. Her laugh. Her ways of getting me to do whatever she pleased, being "whipped" Gray used to call it. I wonder what she would think if she could see me now... Would she recognise me? Would she be afraid? Would she be angry because I left her in that thunderstorm when I knew she was scared...? Or sad?

I remember when she slapped me as if it had just happened. I could still hear her terrified voice screaming out for me as I left her in the field.

I shook those memories from my mind.

That was the past, she was my past.

Havoc is my future.

And besides, monsters don't have happy endings. In fact "happy endings" are just stories that haven't properly ended yet.

"Girl problems?" Old man smirked at me.

I scowled at him. "What? How-"

"I can read you like a book Matthew. But... You need to get it off your chest now before it becomes a problem later." He looked me in the eyes as he spoke stern words.

It was weird, he almost felt like a father figure to me.

I nodded hesitantly. "Before I met you there was this girl, she was everything to me. Everywhere I went I thought of her. I left her because... Well I got caught up in bad people, bad Vampires. If they found out I knew a human, never mind loved one, I wouldn't be able to live with what would happen to her."

"Those memories are set on destroying you. But they're memories because they happened in the past. She is in the past, where she needs to stay. You are in her past too. Now Havoc is in the picture, you need to think about that too." The old man stated calmly, he was very persuasive.

"No, I know. I know. I was just letting the stupid emotional side get to me." I messed up my hair with my hands and shook my head.
