Chapter 25:
Gray's P.O.V.
"C'mon, what are you waiting for? I thought you'd be happy to finally see everyone again!" I remarked jokingly.
He didn't laugh, nor did he smile or show any sign of emotion.
"Hey, are you okay?" I lightly tapped him on the shoulder, keeping one hand firmly on the steering wheel.
He looked at me with hardened eyes. "Does this " He suggested to himself. "look okay to you?"
He was right, he was a monster to be blunt. Not that I was one to be able to speak though.
"Well no... But you're not gonna back out of this now are you?" I clenched my teeth tightly, containing my ever growing irritation.
He sighed a long, weary sigh.
"No... But I really don't think Raven will let me into the house like this." He smirked, and looked ahead, his eyes were distant now. "Oh and do us both a favour, keep your eyes on the road."
I quickly brought my eyes from him back to the road ahead, we were just pulling up outside the huge wall around the house, or whatever it was. I brought the car to a halt.
"I wonder why he came back... Raven, I mean." I sighed.
"Remind me how we came across each other again because seriously, you were the last person I expected to see out there in the middle of freaking nowhere." Matthew raised an eyebrow at me, he dodged the topic of Raven.
"There must be something wrong with you if you think an airport car park is the middle of nowhere." I puffed.
He glared at me. "Obviously there's something 'wrong' with me." He shook his head, let out a small sigh and punched out the entire side window of the car.
I laughed a little. "I don't think the people who own this car will appreciate that."
"Correction: They used to own this car. They don't own it anymore. And I doubt they'd have appreciated you stealing their car, but who knows, maybe they'd prefer someone to completely steal their car than to just break a window." Sarcasm oozed from Matthew's voice, I couldn't keep a smile from my face.
A smile that quickly faded.
"Well come on, let's not waste any more time." I took a deep breath, I was nervous, scared and unsure.
Nervous because I had no idea how Melody, Ashley, Raven or Angel would react to either of us. Obviously being shocked at Matthew was expected, but would they accept me back after I had practically deserted them? I looked Matthew in the eyes, I couldn't find anything in them except burning yellow. He wouldn't turn his back on us and surprise us with some sort of catastrophe would he? I sighed rethinking about it, in a way he had already done that. I mean what exactly was he!?
"Are you having second thoughts about taking me to them?" He tilted his head to the left.
"No! I-"
"I can read you like an open book Gray, it's okay, I'd have second thoughts about bringing you here if our situations were reversed." He chuckled and stuck his head out the hole where the window used to be not so long ago.
I bit my tongue, I had never been referred to as 'an open book' before, in fact I was usually told I'm quite difficult to read. He couldn't read minds could he..? I narrowed my eyes at him.
Matthew... look at me.
My eyes widened as, from the corner of his eyes, he watched me.
