Zayn POV

"She died?! How is that possible?"

Liam shrugged and ran a hand through his hair.

"We all knew there were complications going into this procedure. Well, the doctors struck an artery. She lost too much blood. They couldn't do anything else.”

I could only imagine how Niall was feeling right now. He and Emily had been together for a long time. She had been sick for the majority of their relationship. I thought that this operation was going to be the thing to bring them closer, to make their relationship better. Little did we know, it would have the opposite effect. I heard Keating whimper, and Louis put an arm on her shoulder. She didn't know Emily personally, but Keating was an emotional person.

"So what happens now?” Harry asked.

"Nothing really", Liam said, "Niall is still at the hospital, hysterical. They're moving her body in a couple of hours. The funeral is a few days.”

"When?"

"The 12th.”

"Did you say the 12th?” Keating asked.

She stood up out of Louis's grasp and walked over to me. I looked up at her.

"Yeah", Liam said confused, "Why?"

"The 12th of this month?"

"Yep. Again, why?"

She looked at all of us, then at the floor. Weird girl.

"No reason.”

"You sure, babe?” I asked her.

"Yep", she said grabbing my hand, "Nothing important.”

Louis looked at me in question as did Liam and Harry. I just shrugged and squeezed her hand. If she didn't want to talk about it, that's fine with me.

We all sat around in silence for the new few hours. We didn't say much, basically mourning the loss of Emily. Liam told us that Niall didn't want any visitors, and he probably wouldn't be around much before her funeral. Niall just needed time to grieve. We understood. I couldn't handle it if Keating and I were in this position.

"Okay, I'm going to bed", I announced to everyone.

Well, not really. Liam was busy texting on his phone, something he had been doing since he got here. Something was really distracting him, but I didn't pry. Harry's leg was thrown over the leg of a chair, his snores coming out lightly. Louis was sitting down watching tv, Keating's head resting on his shoulder. When she first fell asleep, he kept trying to nudge her off. I eventually convinced him to just let her be.

"I'll see all of you in the morning.”

I bent down to pick up Keating. Louis stopped me.

"Need some help?” he asked.

"No, mate. Thanks for asking. I can handle her.”

"You could just leave her here, or I could move her into my room.”

"I'm sure you'd love that, pervert.”

He laughed as I kneeled down. She stirred a little before I finally got her into my arms. I didn't blame her for being tired. We had a long day. After a quick good night to Liam and Louis, I carried her into my room.

"Mmm", she said as I laid her down.

"Go back to sleep, babe.”

She smiled as I took off my shirt and crawled into bed beside her.
