Tonight

Silver painted moonlight
Struggling to be sunlight
Fighting for the spotlight
It won't get it tonight

The stars they sparkle so bright
But they don't put up a fight
Their glitter is quiet
Sprinkles to the night sky

The sun it always wins
With the brightness from within
The moon is its reflection
But not quite enough to be competition

People skip in sunshine
The stars come out and it's bedtime

Why does no one ever hear
The symphony the stars play
Why do people never hear
The pretty words the moon can say

The sun, the sun, that's all they want
Tonight the moon is tired
The sun it glows as usual
But the stars are tired
Tonight
