I'm trapped in this circle
Where I'm always afraid
That I'll never stack up
To who I used to be
That I'll never be as good as I was
My last poetry book infinitely better than this one
Each poem worse than the last
And I'm tired of it
Where's my exponential curve
Of improvement?
Why is my life a downhill trip
From the top of Mount Everest?
I'm always afraid that
I'll never be as good as
I used to be
But I'm only as good as
I am
