Happy Holidays, loves!
Cress scrolled down the passages that lit up on her portscreen carefully reading every sentence. She had always known of the 25th of December, the day in which second era people celebrated a so called Christmas. She remembered reading about it in her free time when she wasn't assigned to do Her Majesty's dirty work in the damned satellite. But Levana was long gone. Her Majesty was now Cinder. Of course she made the whole crew promise to never call her that.
It was the 24th, also known as Christmas eve back in the day. It hadn't been celebrated in so long she doubted anyone remembered it. At least that's what Cress thought. Now that she had someone to socialize with, she wanted to give this ancient holiday a try. Fortunately, her friends agreed to check it out. Cress had barely forgotten what she had read about colorful lights for decor on a tree, wrapped cubes under it with gifts inside and the hot chocolate she had never gotten to taste.
Most importantly, a mistletoe. Cress remembered reading that when two people were under one, the rule was to kiss. It's romantic really. She wondered if a certain captain wouldn't mind if she put one on top of them.
Cress continued to read through the passages not wanting to miss anything she had probably forgotten. She was alone in the Rampion waiting for Thorne to start the ship. It had been nearly a year since she saw her friends. Sure, they shared multiple comms and whatnot but seeing them again after everything satisfied her. They would be meeting at Scarlet's farm because they had plenty of space, snow, and warmth. Supposedly the perfect setting for Christmas.
Cinder, Iko, Jacin and Winter would be visiting from Luna. Kinney had refused to go which was no surprise. Kai would visit from the Commonwealth too. Cinder and her people have finally agreed on changing the lunar monarchy and the process was still ongoing.
"Are you ready?" Thorne peaked in over her shoulder and she almost jumped.
"Yeah. I've been doing more research on this holiday. Did you know there was a fat man in a red suit who broke into people's homes at night and put beautifully wrapped boxes under their trees?"
He blinked. "I thought you said Christmas was jolly?"
Cress giggled. "It is. I promise."
"Whatever you say." He kissed her forehead.

Cinder felt overwhelmed at the moment. She would see everyone again after so long. She would see Scarlet and Wolf and their home. She would see her best friend and his smart petite yet strong partner. And she would see the only person she had romantic feelings for.
"We will arrive at the Benoit Farm in approximately 5 minutes. Please stay seated at this moment." said the robotic voice built into the ship.
She squirmed in her seat and checked her port. Thorne and Cress were on their way right now. Kai hadn't replied to her comms in hours and she was starting to get worried. Was he upset? No, maybe he was busy. But could he make it? Of course, he promised her he'd come. After all, her birthday was 3 days ago and he said he wanted to say happy birthday in person.
She could hear Winter giggling and Jacin chuckling sitting opposite her. Jacin didn't even want to come, he thought this Christmas Cress has been going on about was apparently old and too joyous for his liking.
Iko, who was seated next to her, was super excited hence her eyes gleaming an orange red. Cress had mentioned exchanging gifts with everyone but that would be too much. Instead, she insisted on a pollyana or secret santa. They were each assigned to a specific person to give a gift to. They had to be wrapped in a pretty but difficult to use paper.
