The Eastern Commonwealth's royal family decided to have a ball to celebrate Princess Addilyn's 8th birthday. The palace was brimming with people decorating and planning. Although, Addilyn liked royal balls, she did not wish for one this year.

The princess realized she felt kind of lonely. Her parents were never around and she didn't have any other friends. All she did was sit and pretend to be having fun with her royal care-taker.

Addilyn spotted her mom and dad inside the ball room. Of course they would be in there, she thought to herself, all they talk about is the ball. But they forget that they actually have a little girl. Sure, her parents take care of her but they are always too buisy to actually spend time with her.

"Princess! Why are you not in your rooms?" Kerridon, the royal adviser was first to notice her. She merely sighed and started for her rooms.

"Addilyn!" Her father, Emperor Kai, greeted her as she passed. "Why are you alone? Where's your nanny?"

A feminine voice, which Addilyn recognized as her mother, spoke.

"Addi" The empress kneeled down and cupped Addilyn's face with her firm hands. "You shouldn't be here. We promised you all the decorations would be a surprise" she warned with a grin.

"I know mom. But I'm so bored!" She complained. I dont want a ball"

"Addi, I thought you loved balls. With all the dresses and music-"

"I do! But all I want to do for my birthday is have some alone time with my parents! You guys are always buisy for me."

Her parents' gaze softened and they looked hurt. When a moment of silence passed, her father was the first to speak.

"Tell you what." He smiled. "We don't need to celebrate your birthday with a ball."

"Really?!" Addilyn clapped her hands furiously, but happily.

"Really?!" Kerridon, who was listening the whole time, asked. Although, his tone wasn't as joyful. He had helped plan the entire ball without a satisfying break.

"Yeah. Dont you think so, Cinder?" Emperor Kai turned towards mom with a grin. She returned the grin and nodded.

"Absolutely"

"But the ball!" Kerridon started with an exasperating look on his face. "Everything Is ready! The food, tables, decor, and Zanaya is ready for all of you to pick your vestements! People are-"

"Kerridon." Addilyn's mom stared at at him. "The ball is not till tomorrow. We will still host it, dont worry. But tomorrow, Kai and I will spend time with our daughter." Kerridon's irritated expression ceased. "Is that okay?"

The royal advisor stiffened and nodded. "Very well."

~Next day~

Kai and Cinder made their way to their daughter's bedroom.

"Our little girl is turning eight today, Kai" Cinder turned towards him when they reached the entrance to Addilyn's rooms. He held her close and smiled.

"I know, honey. It feels like it was just yeasterday the new heir was born"

"That was a great day. Painful though."

Kai laughed and kissed her cheek. " I love you, Cinder. And I love Addilyn as well. Two of the best things that has happened to me."

"So far" Cinder smirked. He gave her a questioning look. She laughed and took his hand, placing his palm on her stomach. Kai's eyes widened.

"Wh-" His ears turned pink. "How?"

"Oh you know how people get pregnant" another grin. Kai smiled and kissed her.

"How do we tell Addi?"

Addilyn opened her door and rose an eyebrow. "Tell me what?"

Kai and Cinder laughed and walked in, closing the door. "Before having our big day of fun, we have a little announcement to make." Kai said.

They looked at eachother and laughed. This was everything they needed to be a happy family. Just quality time to enjoy what they have.
