We had to think fast, how were we supposed to dig out this child. The ash could fall suffocating the living baby inside. Gale looked at me determination in his eyes. He wasn't gonna let another child die, another human life to be taken by the Capitol.
His precise hands made their way trough the small hole of which we used to see if the baby was okay. With delicate hands, he reached for the infant. His hand was slightly shaking. Never had I seen Gale like this.
Afraid.
He was never scared, not when I saw him.
But this time he was. He was scared he wouldn't be able to save the child wailing inside. His fingers reached for the cloth the kid was wrapped in. They barely missed. But in doing so, he had all his weight on the rubble.
The ash fell.
But when I looked beside me, I didn't see Gale. Looking back at the pile of what used to be a house, I saw Gales foot. He went in to protect the baby.
Gale was in the ash.Hey guys, I updated!! Love y'all hope you enjoyed!!
