CHAPTER NINETEEN
LOGAN
"I-I think we should break up." She whispers. My eyes widen and I'm confused. "Did I do anything wrong?"
Dakota shakes her head. "I just can tell that you like someone else."
I rack my brain for a name of who she thinks I like. I'm over Phoenix. I don't like Luna. Maybe...No, Blaire?
No. Although she does tend to conquer my thoughts for this odd reason, "I don't like—"
Dakota cuts me off with a small laugh before resting her head on the window and closing her eyes. "Oh sure Logan, just keep on telling yourself that."
I stare at the road for a few minutes, trying to wrap my head around what she had just said.
I look to the back, to Luna and Blaire. Blaire is laughing and smiling and she catches my eyes and blushes before going back to the movie. I tear my eyes reluctantly away and pull back onto the road.
Do I like Blaire?
ASHTON
Levi falls asleep in the spare bedroom in the brother's apartment. I'm getting a glass of water and I hear the fridge door open and slam shut. I jump a little, frightened by the abrupt sound that broke the silence in the kitchen.
I turn and see Parker, pouring himself a glass of 'orange juice'.
"Hey, bro." I said, taking a sip of my water.
Parker sighs. "Ashton," he said bluntly. I shake my head at him. "What's wrong? You've been like this for two days." I ask.
He shakes his head. "It's nothing, Ashton. Leave it alone."
I roll my eyes. "Whatever. I'm your brother. I can tell when you're lying, you know."
Parker sighs, running a hand through his hair. "I...broke up with Blaire."
Everything clicks. I pull my brother into a hug. "I can't go back, Ashton. I'll hurt her more. I can't...," he said, his voice so soft it was barely a whisper.
I nod. "Okay, Parker. It'll be okay."
