CHAPTER THIRTEEN
LEVI
The keys are jingling in my shaky hands, as I try to open the door. I sit down and sigh. Ashton's fingers curl into mine. I smile slightly. I knew he was just as worried as I was. "It's going to be alright, Levi. She's going to be okay."
I stick the key into the ignition and drive.
BLAIRE
My phone rings, waking my and Sarah up. It's Levi. I answer.
"What's going on Levi?" I ask.
Levi's breathing in sharp, choppy breaths and in the background, I hear Ashton comforting him. "Luna...the hospital called me."
"What?! What happened?"
"Ashton and I just got here, to USF Medical Center." He said.
"I'll be right there," I said.
LEVI
"Luna Elise Lancaster?" I ask in between breaths.
"Family only," the nurse said, giving Ashton a look.
"I'm her brother. He's one of her best friends." Ashton gives my hand a reassuring squeeze. "Levi, it's okay. Go." He whispers. Her grimace grows. "Look, family only. I'm sorry."
"It's okay. Go on Levi."
"Ashton, I-I can't be there without you. She's all I got left," I said. "You have me," he replies. I look back at the nurse, pleading. "Please, ma'am."
"Room 275, go ahead. Both of you." She said, smiling a bit.
"Thank you," I said exasperatedly and Ashton and I start running down the hall.
270.
273.
275!
I open the door. "Luna!" I yell, running to her side. There's a doctor next to her. Ashton's face clouds over with worry. Luna's eyes flutter and I take in a sharp breath. I squeeze her hand. "Levi Lancaster?" the doctor asks.
"Yes."
"I'm Doctor Springfield. She's doing better. She was in the passenger seat, so she didn't get the worse impact. The car hit them head on. She has two broken ribs and slight internal bleeding. Your sister is very lucky."
