Why did you join wattpad? How did you find the site?
I first joined Wattpad because a friend of mine (hey Natshane!) was writing a new story on here and she posted a link to it on Gatlin. After reading her stuff, I looked at a few other "recommended stories" and instantly knew that I would love it here.
WHat is the best part of wattpad?
The best part of Wattpad I think is how many different genres are here. Everything from fanfics to chick-lits to paranormal fantasy is all right there ready for you to dive into whenever you want. Not only that, but Wattpad allows you to talk directly to the author and you always know for sure that they'll get your feedback. I think that's super cool.
                              When did you start writing?
I think I've probably been writing ever since I was five or six (my first story was about a little girl who lost her favorite notebook), but I didn't really get serious about it until I was around ten years old. I used to do like one or two short stories a week, but now I start new things every day.
Why should readers check out your stories?
Because I'd like to think my stories mean something. I know most of what I have posted are either fanfics or gooey romances (I'm a sucker for dumb clichés), but there is usually some underlying message I try to putin them. The importance of being yourself, the fierce bond between siblings who have gone through everything together... And all of that is usually wrapped together neatly witha bit of humour, romance, and sometimes even mystery and action.
What genres do you write in?
Mostly I write romances, but I do write a lot of fanfics and recently I've been dabbling in the thriller/mystery genre. I've always had this undying love for the paranormal, but I've only ever done two or three things on it and the mostly didn't turn out well.
WHat is the ebst part of writing? The worst?
For me the best and worst parts of writing are always entertwined. My favorite part has always been the
research necessary for certain stories and staying up late because you have the perfect idea that is just screaming to be written and will not let you stop. But then there's the headaches from staying up too late, and the notes you wrote in your worst handwriting at four in the morning because your dreams were interrupted by your characters giving you such golden ideas that you will never remember because you can't read your own handwriting.
What is your writing pet peeve?
Even though the sleep deprivation that comes with writing is the absolutely horrible, I'd have to say that even worse than that is all of the ideas that are always swirling about in your mind. And they don't always necessarily fit with the story, so you can never use all of them. To me that's always been very disappointing.
Any unique tips for new writers?
Try to write everything neatly, even at four thirty in the morning when you're not quite sure if you're hallucinating or not. Because you will spend countless hours trying to remember and you'll always have that one part of your brain nagging at you, even far after you've gotten it published. Learn from my mistakes and never use shorthand when writing these late night notes. It's pure torture trying to figure it out. More importantly, always remember that your writing is exactly that--yours. Don't ever let somebody tell you that you're doing it wrong because there is no wrong way to write, no matter what your english teacher may tell you. Write what you want to how you want to and never get discouraged when looking for a publisher. Just because one person doesn't want to publish it doesn't mean nobody does. Even JK Rowling went through twelve publishers before she found someone who would put it on the shelves.
When do you prefer to write?
I do most of my best work at night, but on nice days when it's sunny and breezy out, I'll take a notebook and some pens outside and just write whatever comes to me, even if I'm not working on a project.
Whats the worst story youve ever written?
I'd like to say that I have never written a terrible story, but...that just woulodn't be true. Okay so a few years back I bought this teen fiction book about revenants, and I was so stoked about the idea of them that I tried to write my own, and....it was roughly thirteen pages and going nowhere. I deleted it within a month. I'd venture to say my story about the lost notebook was better than that was.
                              What inspires your wrighting?
Everything. And you think I'm exaggerating, but I'm not. I'll see a post on Tumblr about something seemingly ridiculous and just HAVE to write something relating to it. Mostly though I'm very inspired by books I read as well as movies, songs, photographs and sometimes even actual current events (when I pay attention to the news, that is). A lot of the time I'll hear a song, and it won't even be new, it will be something I've heard a million times before, and I'll just run straight to the nearest computer or notebook and write something on it.
                              Any closing comments?
Thank you very much for giving me this interview, and I hope that all of my fellow Wattpadders will take the chance to get to know me or read some of my stories after seeing this.
