Bertram's Point of View...
I tuckCat into her bed and kissher cheek softly. She woke up and smiles at me. She looked so beautiful.
"Bertram where do you think your going?"
"Well, I was going to uh," I say, stuttering.
She yawns and I have to admit when she does so, Cat looks adorable.
"Please stay." Cat says, sticking out her bottom lip.
I groan. "Cat, I have to..." Just then, the door bell rings. We look to each other.
It's not our parents because they left together to talk about their kids.
I grab my oak bat that is just for decor and Cat grabs an old badminton racket. We walk to the door and she hides behind the door. I open it and raise my bat to see a terrified Phillips.
I back up and let him in but Catherine smacks him atop his head with the racket.
He groans and says, "Cat!"
"Oh my gosh, Camden!" She shrieks. Phillips just stands there and I see that he has blood on his white undershirt.
"Camden?" I question.
"That is Phillips first name. What happened to you?!?!" She screams at Phillips or Camden.
"Can I come in, Cat?"
I look at Bertram and he nods.
"Bertram help me." I say, grabbing Camden by his arms.
He is crying. We take him to the bathroom and I wet a wash cloth. "Camden, what happened?"
"My....my dad."
"What did your dad do to you?" I ask, confused.
"Bertram. Mr. Phillips abuses Camden a lot when we were dating." I guess I still looked lost because Phil...Camden finally yells, "My dad physically harasses me, OKAY?!?!?!"
I am quiet and Cat looks at me, with knowing eyes. "Here, Camden. Is your mom home?"
"No. She left Monday." He says, tears welling in his eyes. Catherine grabs a box of 'Kleenex' and hands them to Camden.
"Cat, can I talk to you for a minute?" I ask.
"Yah. I'll be right back."

Catherine's Point of View...
I close the door and Bertram grabs my shoulders and pushes me up against the beige hallway walls. His eyes look hard, like nothing before. "Cat, explain to me what just happened?"
"Bertram, wha..."
"Don't give me that!" He spat out. "You were flirting with Phillips!"
"What?!" I say. "Bertram, I was just trying to help him out. What is your problem?"
"Catherine! You were trying to get in his pants!"
"Bertram Grover Weeks! Never use that tone with me ever again. And I wasn't trying to get into anyone's pants." She yells back at me and storms to the bathroom.
It's quiet until I hear Camden. "Bertram! Get in here! She's doing it again!"
'Oh God!' I run into the bathroom and Phillips leaves.
Cat has her old blade out and is hacking at her wrists. "Cat, Don't!" I yell knocking the blade from her hands and it falls to the ground. Catherine scrambles to get it but I restrain her.
"Let go of me, Bertram Grover Weeks!" She screams as tears stream down her face.
"Phillips!" I yell as I try to keep a thrashing Catherine in my arms.
Camden comes running in and automatically knocks the tiny blade down the drain and takes the box and does the same with them.
"No!" Catherine screams. "No, Bertram. I need them! You don't get it!"
I hold Catherine in my arms and rock her back and forth. "Baby Girl, it's okay. Just please calm down."
She keeps bawling her eyes out. I take her chin and look her in the eyes. "I'm sorry Cat. I love you so much. I don't want to lose you."
She sniffles and whispers, "I love you too, Bertram. I'm sorry about cutting."
I look at her and then, I look at her wrists and then back at her.
"Bertram?" She asks."What are you doing?"
I take her arm and kiss every single lash on her arm. She wiggles and tries to escape my clutches.
"Bertram stop. Please."
I take her face and gently on her lips. She kisses me back and we end up having a little make out before Phillips interrupts us. "Sorry, Catherine. But I have to go." Camden says, sadly.
"Where are you going?" Cat asks, looking genuinely scared for his life.
"Well, I suppose home." He says, looking at the ground.
"Oh no, you don't. You get back into this house now!" She yells.
Phillips doesn't move. I edge closer to him.
"Phillips if I were you I would get in here now, unless you want your ass to be kicked."
He sighs. I chuckle but then, Cat snaps at me, "Bertram get the boys over here now."
"Alright, Cat." I peck her lips and look at Phillips. "No funny business."

Phillips Point of View....
After Bertram leaves, I feel really uncomfortable. Here I am standing in an empty house with my ex and she is wearing really short shorts and a white tee shirt. You can see her black sports bra through it.
"Hello, Camden." She says flailing her arms around my face.
"What?" I croak out.
She chuckles and a shiver goes down my back. "I asked you if you were thirsty."
(*not the way you are thinking.)
"Uhm, s-s-sur-e." I say, smiling weakly.
"Okay come on then." Cat says, as she walks to the kitchen.
All of a sudden, Bertram's words play over in my mind. 'No funny business.'
'Right Camden. No funny business. You lost Catherine a while ago.'
"Camden!" She snaps.
"What?!?!" I ask. 'Geez, Man. You have to get ahold of yourself. This girl is driving you crazy.'
"I asked you what you wanted to drink?" Catherine says, getting agitated with having to repeat herself over and over again.
"Uhm, I would like..." I don't get to finish because she puts a glass of milk down in front of me.
"Milk great."
She turns and bends down to mop up some sloshed milk on the linoleum floor. I mumble under my breath, "Bossy much."
"I heard that." I look down to see that her shorts have risen up a little bit more now and...
"Camden, I swear if you keep checking me out than I will knock you into next Tuesday." She says, through gritted teeth.
She gets up and I, not knowing at the moment what I was doing, pulled her into my lap. She squirmed around and I just held her tighter.
"Camden put me down!"
"No."
"No! What do you mean No?!?!"
"I mean I won't put you down, Catherine."
"I will make you, Camden."
"How are you going to make me then baby girl?" I ask, remembering when she was my baby girl.
She freezes at the nickname for her. I now feel guilty. She whispers, "I am not your baby girl, Camden."
I sit her down and run my hands through my short brown hair.
'You have to stop NOW, Camden.'
"I think I'm going to go." I say and walk to the door when it opens and run into Bertram.
"Oh Bertram." I mumble.
Catherine chuckles and sips out of her black coffee mug that is filled to the brim with steaming chai tea. Bertram steps in and Camden runs down the street.
"Wait, Phillips!" Bertram yells out my front door. (Back to Catherine's point of view). He sighs and comes in, plopping his butt down on the Davenport.
I smile and walk over to him. I sit on his lap, laying my head on Bertram's chest. He wraps his arms around and we lay there in silence until Benny and the rest come in.
"Heyyy, Catherine." Benny says.
"Hi, Benny." I say.
"Can we talk in private, Cat?" He asks, smiling wide.
"Oh, okay."
I kiss Bertram's cheek and they leave so it's just me and Benny in my house.
Benny is silent for what seems like eons. I take in his physical appearance;
Blood shot eyes
Ruffled Black hair
Shaky hands.
"Benny?"
"Why do you never come to the Sandlot, Catherine?" He says, looking at my bedroom door.
"I don't know, Benny."
"I want the Catherine Smalls I fell for not this new girlier one." He says, exasperated.
It dawns on me. Benny is jealous because I chose Bertram over him. But, the last thing I'm going to do is confront him on my theory.
All of a sudden, he crashes his lips to mine. He forces me down on the couch and kisses me forcefully. I don't kiss back.
His tongue grazes my lips begging for entrance, I reject.
Suddenly, he squeezes my butt and I gasp. He smirks and sticks his tongue in my mouth. "Get off, Benny."
I didn't really pay a lot attention to his hands through this but I now feel them tugging my pants down.
"Benny stop."
"Cat..the..ine but I Lu...uuuuuuuuuuv you." He says, and I smell liquor on his breath.
What the heck?!?! How does a 14 year old boy get liquor?
"Benny your drunk." I say pushing him off of me.
"What?!?! Wh...aaaat ar....eee you.....talk...in...g...ab....ou.....tttt." He slurs.
I sigh and get him a glass of water. "Here, drink this." I hand it to him.
His hand slips and the water drenches me and the glass breaks into a million pieces onto my bare foot, scattering onto the hardwood floor.
"Ow!" I scream. "F*ck Benny. That hurts!"
"Cat, I'm sorry." He says, hurt in his eyes.
"Just stay here. Don't move."
I wobble to the bathroom and close the door.
I examine my foot and it has some same pieces of glass in my foot. I try to get the first aid kit but I'm to short to grab it.
I get on the sink and balance on the edge. Then, I hear the front door slam shut and it shakes the whole house.
I lean a little on the bathroom sink and peer out the door. I can't see.
I lean a little farther and loose my grip on the sink, falling on my butt.
I groan and Bertram comes running into the bathroom. "Cat, are you okay?"
"Yah, I'm fine." I say getting up.
The other boys come round the corner.
"Bertram, lets go."
"One second." Bertram says, scooping me up into his arms.
He takes me into my bedroom and sits me on my bed. He laughs, "Cat, Cat, Cat,Cat."
"What?" I ask, innocently.
"We were going to have you play ball with us since Benny's.... You know... But now you can't walk." Squints laughs.
Everyone chuckles. My face lights up. "Yes I can. Just let me grab my mitt and I will,.... Crap!"
I begin to fall but Bertram, Ham, and Yah-Yah catch me. They sit me on the bed and Bertram looks at me sternly. "You aren't going anywhere, Catherine."
I groan. "But Bertram." I groan, and give him the puppy-kicked-under-the-bus look.
"Baby Girl, I love you and all but you are in no condition to walk."
"Bertram." I bite my lip, seductively.
He groans.
"We are going to leave you to alone, Bertram." Tommy says, and all of the boys leave.
I run my hands down his chest. He groans again.
"Cat, I will only tell you this nicely once. Stop now or else." He says, while biting his lip.
"But what if I don't want to Bertram." I whisper in his ear, sending chills down his and my back.
'What the heck am I doing?'
"Baby Girl, I would strongly advice you on stopping or this will get out of hand."
"Then, let me go to the Sandlot with you today." I say, kissing his cheek.
"No, Catherine."
"Fine then, at least kiss me goodbye." She says, softly.
"Of course, Baby."
I bend down to kiss her lips and once they connect, I feel bolts of electricity course through my veins.
She lays back on her mattress and pulls me down with her. I keep my hands tightly around her waist so they don't wander. Catherine pulls at the hem of my maroon shirt off and runs her hands over my chest.
Then, a weird expression crosses over her face. She hesitates and then, pulls it back over and rolls over to the other side of her full bed. "Catherine, what's wrong?"
"I'm not sure if I want to do this or not, Bertram." Her eyes fill with tears.
"Baby Girl, it's okay. Nobody's forcing you." I say, but she's still sad.
I kiss her. "I'll be back soon, Baby girl."
And with that I leave.
