Today is the Fourth of July and sadly the summer is almost halfway over. "Hey Magadoodle." My dad says, popping his head into my room.
"Yah, Dad." I ask looking up at him.
"There's a boy out here who wants to talk to you." He says, smiling gently.
"Okay, Dad. I'm coming." I smile.
Once I get to the front of the house I find out who that person is.
"Benny." I say shocked.
"Hey,...Mags. I..uh..wondered if you would...ah, like to go with me...to..the ah..."
I giggle at Benny because he's so red faced. "Hey, Dad. This is Benny Rodrigues and he wondered if I could go play baseball with him and my friends."
"Sure,Maggie. But remember your cooking tonight." He says.
"Okay. By..."
"Wait a second, young lady." My dad says suddenly.
"Young man, ER, Benny was it?"
Benny steps into the door. "Y-Yes sir."
"You will take good care of my baby girl right?"
I groan and turn towards Benny but he just stands there beaming looking straight at me. "Yes sir, Mr. Hernandez. I won't let anything hurt Mags here."
"Okay, because she's my baby girl and I love her dearly." Her father says.
"Oh, Dad." Maggie rolls her eyes and kisses his cheek.
"See you later Magadoodle." Her dad says.
"Bye Dad."
"Goodbye Mr. Rodrigues." He says towards me.
"Bye sir."
