Catherine's Point of View... (Yes in some parts of this chapter I do not own the language).

The boys got the idea to make a fake copy of the ball just for a little bit until we got it back. Squints said we couldn't just go ask for the ball back so we are concocting a plan. Smalls told me not to tell anyone but he was very embarrassed that mom even knew who he was. "Let's look out the window." Squints says.

We look and see all the stuff no one will ever get back and we see the ball, the thing we have to get back. "He's daring us!" Timmy says.

"Were on his territory now." Ham looks at all of us sitting around.

"Anyone got any bright ideas?" Benny asks.

Everyone stops and ponders this, We still had no clue so we started at the bottom. Squints got in the tree house with makeshift binoculars and would tell us when we were close to the ball. While he did this, We got a stick and would get the ball through the hole in the fence. "Farther."

The stick was just about to touch the ball and then something grabbed ahold. Everyone screamed out of fear of what was on the other end of that stick. Everyone began to pull on Ham and try to get it to release it but it wasn't working. When it finally released the stick it came back broken, chewed on, and covered in a type of mucus.

Once everyone calmed down we tried again but this time with an aluminum pan and a piece of metal. "Cat, Bertram, Benny go to the right a little bit," Ham says, and everyone whispers it back to us.

"A little bit farther." Squints says. We obey.

Ham tells us to turn the pan over so it is over the ball. We lower it slowly so it is over the ball. "You got it. Bring it in." Squints says.

But then pressure is applied to the pan and Ham begins to yell again. "Pull it Back! Pull it Back!" Squints yells.

We try but the contraption is ripped out of our hands and we fall to the ground. There is a snort on the other side of the fence and suddenly The pan and metal are flying through the air onto the ground mangled and in a disarray. We all walk over to it and just stare. "I think we have seriously underestimated the beast." Ham says.

"Obviously we are dealing with a far more superior intelligence." Squints replies, shaking his head.

"I have an idea but I need vacuum cleaners." Scotty says.

"Alright, meet back here in 15 minutes." Benny says.

We break off and set out to find all the vacuum cleaners we can.
