Ch 8: What?!

We arrive to the car and i jump in the passenger seat as Mitch gets behind the wheel and Nate takes the back seat.
"So since we are all here Nate this is Mitch and Mitch this is Nate." I say as i they turn to each other and shake hands.

"How do you guys know one another?" Nate says with a cheeky smile.
"Calm down Nate. His ute broke down and him along with his 2 mates which you saw at the hospital had to push the car to our place for help. They have to stay until they have it fixed so we will be having a very full house especially since you're staying." I say as i give a slight laugh and hit him in the leg.

"Fair enough. What were you and your mates doing heading out this way?" Nate asks as Mitch starts the car.
"Oh we have a thing on in 4 weeks and its about a 2 hour drive away so we had to pass through." Mitch says as we exit the park.
"A thing huh?" Nate says with a grin.

"We are in the rodeo." Mitch says with a cringe and an awkward face.
"You're what?!" Nate says as he looks at me with wide eyes.
"Yeah." Mitch says as he glances over at me as he drives towards home.
"Wow i cant believe this coincidence. Mitch this girl sitting in the passenger seat and i used to be in the rodeo along with her 2 special friends Caitlan and Amber." Nate says as he grabs both of our shoulders in excitement.

"I didn't know that." Mitch says with a grin.
"Yeah and i have been trying to convince her to get back into it with me so what better time then now. Come on we have 4 weeks to get prepared and ready and i still have my training gear." Nate says as he i can feel the excitement bubbling up inside him.

"I dunno." I say as i shrug my shoulders and smile out the window.
"Come on Dakota. I can help you get back into it." Mitch says with a grin.
"Look Mitch i can get back into it without your help." I say with a smile.
"Oh really. Prove it then and compete in the rodeo with Nate." Mitch says with a smart grin on his face.
"Fine i will." I say as i fold my arms and raise my head.

"Yes! Nate and Dakota are back again!" Nate yells adding a few loud woo-hoos as we make our way to our home sweet home.

After singing and dancing like complete idiots in the car we arrive home and i see Amber and Damon over near Texas.

"Does Amber know what she is doing?" Nate whispers over my shoulder.
"Yeah believe it or not that horse only likes Amber." I say as Nate grabs my shoulders and begins to grab his bags.

I walk over to Amber and Damon who are brushing Texas.
"Wow so its true. Texas has chosen you for his owner." I say with a smile.
"Yeah she did amazing. Texas is now able to have a check up without the worry of the vet being kicked." Damon says with a little laugh.
"Oh and on that, Damon is a vet." Amber says with a smile.
"Wow. I would never of thought that a clumsy country boy like you would be a vet." I say with a grin.
"Shows how much you still don't know about me." Damon says with a smile.
Amber takes Texas and puts him in a paddock as Damon and i head inside.

As Damon and i walk inside we are greeted with Nate who had the hugest smile on his face, Mitch and Travis who had wide eyes and Caitlan you stared at my furiously.

"Whoa what happened here?" Damon says with a smile.
"What are you thinking?!" Caitlan says as she marches over to me and gets in my face.
"What did i do?!"
"Nate and Mitch told me about you going back to the rodeo. Do you not remember anything?!"
"Oh i remember and you need to remember that my life doesn't evolve around you and Amber. Its my decision!" I yell as i storm up to stairs and slam my bedroom door and lay spread out on my bed.

Meanwhile...

Amber walks through the door and sees that the room is very heated up especially seeing Travis hugging Caitlan who is looking like she is about to cry.

"What happened?" Amber asks Damon who is still trying to grasp onto whats happening but tells her what he knows anyways.

Mitch is talking to Nate but suddenly Nate bolts up the stairs and into my room.

"What do you want Nate?" I say with my head pressed into my pillow.
"Well what i want is my spicy brunette to get her ass downstairs and maybe go for a ride with me but i don't think thats going to happen so I'm going to say i want to talk instead." Nate says as he sits on my bed.

"I can grant you the second one." I say as picks me up off the bed and sits me on the end of the bed.
"Then lets talk." Nate says with a smile.
"I cant believe i said that." I say as i drop my face into my hands.
"Its ok. You had a reason to say it and it is your decision."

"Yeah but i didn't have to say that." I say is i look at Nate and he hugs me.
"Well look come down and say sorry because shes mess too." Nate says as he rubs my back.
"I guess."

"Look you can either come down and make peace and also get some dinner or you can stay up here with no white flags and starve along with massive amounts of guilt." Nate says as he pulls me closer to him.

"Fine i will come down but just because I'm hungry." I say as he gives a smile and picks me up.

"Nate! Put me down!" I yell as he drops me on my tail bone and walks to the door.
"I hate you." I say as he gives me a wink as i get up and we both walk down the steps.

Caitlan looks up at me with Amber looking a little more furious then Caitlan did.
"Look I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that but I'm still going to do it and there is nothing you"
"I want you to." Caitlan cuts me off and surprises me with her answer.

"You what?" Nate, Amber and i say in unison.
"I want you to go to the rodeo. You used to have fun doing it and i want to go to see you. Its cool with me." Caitlan says with a smile as i run to her and give her a hug to say thank you.

"This is great and everything but a man needs to eat." Nate says as he lifts his shirt which reveals a v-line and abs.
"I will make dinner since we are only staying. Give me an hour and dinner will be ready." Damon announces and smiles at Amber and then walks into the kitchen.

"Alright well if you need to know where everything is get let me know." Caitlan says as she walks away holding Travis' hand.

"Bro just don't light the house on fire." Travis says with a raised eyebrow and Damon throws a piece of celery at him.
"I will help you." Mitch says as he rub my shoulder and walks into the kitchen.

"Do you want to go for a ride?" Nate says with a smile.
"What the hell, why not?" I say as race out to the tack room.

What an eventful day.
