Ch 27: Don't You Dare Lie to Me

"Travis." I say softly as i rub my eyes.

"I know i can be a jerk but that just means i am even more correct when i say that was a seriously jerky move." Travis says as i sit down beside him with my head in my hands.

"Wow thanks Travis, i feel sooooo much better now."

"Look, you and Nate obviously have something so why aren't you running after him?" Travis says as he places a hand on my shoulder.

"Oh i don't know Travis, maybe its the point that I'm scared of what he would say or maybe its because my friend has been kidnapped and i only can focus on one problem at once or maybe its because I'm starting to cry next to someone who i just slapped so hard that my hand is numb." I say as i feel tears start to fall down my cheeks.

"I know you would hate me right now but there is something you need to know about me." Travis says as he places an arm around me.

"It must be serious since you are showing a soft side." I say as he grabs a tissue.

"I have an idea on what might have happened to Caitlan, i got in some pretty bad stuff and well these guys tortured me. This one guy in particular who worked just under the boss. He like to use poison and bullets, sometimes poison laced bullets even. His name was Ace and he used the same exact poison that was in my system tonight and i think he might have Caitlan."

I look up at him and tears start to run down my face.

"Is he a big threat?" I say as i hold my breath quietly.

"Umm he..."

"Don't you dare lie to me either." I say as he looks into my eyes and slowly nods.

I drop me head in my hands and i just feel Travis hold me tight.

"Im so sorry Dakota, I'm sooo sorry." He whispers as i feel a tear drip onto my shoulder where Travis had his face.

"Im truly sorry, we will get her back. I promise you if its the last thing i do." He whispers as he lets a few more tears out.

Damon's POV

"Who was that guy anyways Damon?" Mitch says as he all jump in the car frustrated and ready for a fight.

"That guy was a dude that tortured Travis back when he was still doing, well you know, his old job. He basically got him close to death but would stop just before that point and would make sure Travis would black out. It was wrong, one thing that he got was right that he is insane." I say as i feel my anger slowly lower down as we sit in the car.

"Um what exactly was his old job?" Amber says as Mitch and I just look at each other. 

"Well he um"

"And don't you dare lie to me." Amber says as i just shake my head and nod to Mitch as he keeps his cool.

"Well back when i was only just about to meet Damon and Travis, Travis was trained in combat and was a, well he was a top assassin." Mitch says as Amber and Eden both just sit back in their seats.

"Wow i knew Travis wasn't a goody two shoes but seriously? An assassin?" Eden says as her and Amber look at each other with wide eyes.

"If you don't believe us, that's your decision." I say as i hear someone opening a zipper.

"Whats going on back there?" I ask as i turn to see Amber handing a $10 note to Eden from her purse.

"She is just paying up because she just lost a bet." Eden says as she smiles and puts the $10 down her bra.

"And what exactly was this bet?" Mitch asks as we both look back to the back seats.

"Well i bet that Travis had killed a few people before we met him because he seems like that type of dude and Amber bet that Travis was actually secretly a softy who would sometimes cry himself to sleep." Eden says with a smile.

"Well i think you should give Amber back her 10 bucks." Mitch says as i look at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Uh why?" Eden says as she leans forward so she is closer to him.

"Well no one was wrong, both of you are right." Mitch says as he smiles and starts the car.

Travis' POV

"So that's the lovely story of how i met Ace, i refused to do my job after realising that i was ruining peoples lives and well he decided to ruin mine. I constantly have flash backs of what he has done to me and well I'm petrified on what he could be doing to Caitlan." I say as i sit at the kitchen table and Dakota hands me a cup of coffee.

"Well this Ace dude, do you know where he may be?" She says as she takes a seat next to me.

"To be dead set honest, notta clue." I say as i see Dakota's head slowly lower.

"I'm sorry Dakota but right now we cant do anything so for now lets just chill. He wouldn't do anything until he knows in awake." I say as Dakota nods and gives me a slight smile.

I look to my right and see a photo frame. It has Nate with his arm around Dakota in a rodeo ring with Caitlan and Amber photobombing in the background.

"This is cute." I say as i pick up the frame and Dakota smiles.

"Yeah that was a few years ago when we where at a show and it was one of the very few rodeos where none of us four were injured and nothing went wrong." Dakota says with a smile and a slight laugh.

"You and Nate look really cute together." I say as Dakota closes her eyes and lets out a deep breath.

"Go talk to him, i will worry about Caitlan enough for the both of us. Seriously go." I say as i place the frame down and Dakota nods and walks out of the front door.
