At The School Board Meeting

"Alright. This meeting is into order. Does anyone have any, any, questions over anything so far?" Mr. Ruben, the superintendent asked the school board. All of the members shook their heads. Then suddenly there was a knocking at the door. "Someone please get that," Mr. Ruben ordered. A lady stood up and opened the large door. Mrs. Canterbury was at the door. "May I help you Lucinda?" Mr. Ruben asked Mrs. Canterbury. Mrs. Canterbury walked in and went straight up to him. "I have a question," she began. "The two girls in my journalism class, Catherine, and Karla, are very serious about becoming journalists, and Catherine has already been accepted into the University of London, in London, England. They are doing a narrative this month about pop culture since most kids this time of year are asking and receiving CDs, DVDs, and pop culture items. Karla suggested they go to a One Direction concert and host an interview to the biggest band in the world. But they cannot afford tickets. And I was wondering if the school would be able to pay for it. It would be a real-world journalism experience, and they would love it," she finished as everyone in the room was staring at her. Mr. Ruben thought to himself for a moment and then spoke. "The REAL journalists in the world are the ones interviewing the big bands. Small town girls don't belong there. Besides, I've heard those tickets cost thousands of dollars," he said, throwing his arms in the air in frustration. Mrs. Canterbury nodded in disappointment, but then her eyes brightened again. "Mr. Ruben. How about I help pay with my salary?" Mr. Ruben stared and then said, "Mrs. Canterbury. A teachers' salary is already not enough to live on, little less pay for two students' pleasure activities," "Mr. Ruben! This would be a great experience for aspiring journalists!" Mr. Ruben thought to himself for a moment, not answering to Mrs. Canterbury's pleading. Then one of the members of the school board spoke up. "Mr. Ruben, she states a good point, and I know Karla personally, and I know that an experience like that could help them later on in college. Especially since Catherine wants to go to another country to study," the lady sat down and Mr. Ruben looked at her and then back at Mrs. Canterbury. He sighed and placed his fingers on his chin to indicate that he was thinking.
"Fine. Two backstage passes to a One Direction concert. I'll do it. Only because it will help them in college," Mr. Ruben finally said, straightening his stack of paper he was holding in a manila file. "Don't be asking for things like this again, because it isn't going to happen," he finished, setting down his folder. "Thank you so much sir. They will be thrilled," Mrs. Canterbury said, almost skipping out of the room.
"Alright, ... NOW the meeting is in order," Mr. Ruben started again.
